[영국] 스와이어, 미국 수처리 기업 웨스텍 인수 협약 체결

영국에 본사를 둔 존 스와이어 앤 손스(John Swire & Sons ; Swire)의 자회사인 JS&S(워터홀딩스)가 미국 수처리 기업인 웨스텍(WesTech) 인수를 위한 '멤버십이자 매입협정(Membership Interest Purchase Agreement ; MIPA)'을 체결했다.

MIPA의 조건은 공개되지 않았다. 그 제안은 주주들의 승인을 받아야 한다.

존 스와이어 앤 손스(John Swire & Sons의 제임스 휴스-할렛(James Hughes-Hallett) 재무이사는 "웨스텍은 수처리 업계에서 세계 최고 수준의 장비와 솔루션을 납품한 경력이 10년 가까이 되는 우수한 기업이다"라고 말했다.

제임스 휴스-할렛(James Hughes-Hallett) 재무이사는 이어 "이번 협약을 통해 스와이어(Swire)는 기존 자원과 웨스텍(WesTech)의 역량을 결합하여 수처리 시장에서의 입지를 가속화함으로써 지속가능성에 대한 스와이어(Swire)의 헌신과 특히 물의 책임 있는 사용 및 관리를 촉진할 수 있을 것"이라고 덧붙였다.

웨스텍 엔지니어링(WesTech Engineering)은 전 세계적으로 산업, 도시 및 광물 시장에서 물 및 하·폐수 처리, 액체 및 고체 분리, 생물학적 처리 요구를 위한 서비스 및 프로세스 솔루션을 제공한다.

미국 유터주 솔트레이크시티(Salt Lake City)에 본사를 두고 있는 웨스텍(WesTech)은 아이오와주 에메스(Ames)에 사무소를 두고 있으며, 세계적으로 브라질, 중국, 인도, 이탈리아, 페루, 남아프리카공화국에 사무소를 두고 있다.

영국에 본사를 둔 스와이어(Swire)는 부동산 개발, 항공, 해양 서비스, 음료 및 식품 체인, 기타 산업 및 무역 이해 관계를 담당하는 다각화 된 글로벌 그룹이다.

워터 부문에서 스와이어(Swire)는 웨스텍(WesTech)과 호환되는 전문 정수처리 회사인 퓨어스트림(Purestream)을 소유하고 있다.

두 회사가  선도적인 솔루션의 구축을 가속화할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.

Swire signs agreement to acquire WesTech

JS&S (Water Holdings), a subsidiary of John Swire & Sons (Swire), has signed a Membership Interest Purchase Agreement (MIPA) to acquire WesTech, an employee-owned company.

The terms of the MIPA have not been disclosed. The offer is subject to shareholder approval.

John Swire & Sons financial director James Hughes-Hallett said: “WesTech is an excellent company with a nearly five-decade history of delivering world-class equipment and solutions in the water treatment industry.

“This agreement will allow Swire to combine its existing resources with WesTech’s capabilities, thereby accelerating our position in the water treatment market ? advancing Swire’s commitment to sustainability and specifically the responsible use and management of water.” 

WesTech Engineering offers services and process solutions for water and wastewater treatment, liquids/solids separation, and biological treatment needs in industrial, municipal and minerals markets globally.

Headquartered in Salt Lake City, UT, WesTech has offices in Ames, Iowa and globally in Brazil, China, India, Italy, Peru and South Africa.

UK-based Swire is a diversified global group with undertakings in property development, aviation, marine services, beverages and food chain, and other industrial and trading interests.

In the water segment, Swire owns Purestream, a specialised water treatment company compatible to WesTech.

The two companies together will be able to accelerate the deployment of their leading solutions.
