최근 캘리포니아 및 캐나다 앨버타 북부·퀘벡 등 3곳 수주…총 9만9천 달러 규모

H2O 이노베이션(H2O Innovation Inc.)은 최근 미국 캘리포니아에서 물재이용 프로젝트(water reuse system), 캐나다에서 2개의 퍼스트 네이션 프로젝트(First Nations project) 및 또 다른 소규모 프로젝트를 수주했다고 10원 5일 발표했다. 수주 규모는 총 9만9천 달러로, H2O 이노베이션은 이번 계약으로 수자원기술 및 서비스(WTS ; Water Technologies & Services)로 인한 수주 잔고는 41만2천 달러에 달한다.

H2O 이노베이션은 캘리포니아 에스콘디도(Escondido)에 위치한 주요 고객을 위해 물 재이용 시스템을 제공할 예정이다. 이 프로젝트에는 RO(reverse osmosis)에 이어 UF(ultrafiltration) 시스템이 통합된다. UF는 순여과물 생산능력이 2.5MGD(9천460㎥/일)이고 RO는 2.0MGD(7천570㎥/일)이다.

이 시스템은 기존의 재활용수 시스템에서 나오는 3차 유출물을 처리하여 기존의 재활용수 공급과 혼합되어 농업용 관개용으로 사용될 고순도의 재활용수를 생산한다.

 

H2O 이노베이션(H2O Innovation Inc.)의 그레고리 매든(Gregory Madden) 최고 전략책임자는 “처리된 물을 안전하게 재사용하기 위한 멤브레인 기술의 적용에 대한 우리의 경험은 3개년 전략 계획의 일환으로 이 시장에 대한 지속적인 집중과 맞아떨어진다. 캘리포니아와 미국 서부의 많은 지역이 최근 몇 년 동안 가장 심한 가뭄을 경험했다. 물 재사용은 다양하고 탄력적인 물 공급의 개발에 매우 중요하다”라고 말했다.

그레고리 매든(Gregory Madden)은 이어 “최근 미국 사회기반시설 및 일자리법이 향후 5년간 물 재활용 프로그램에 10억 달러를 투자하기로 함에 따라, 우리는 북미에서 물 재사용의 미래의 일부가 될 수 있을 것으로 생각한다”고 덧붙였다.

H2O 이노베이션은 또한 캐나다 앨버타 북부(Northern Alberta) 지역의 데네 타 퍼스트 네이션(Dene Tha’ First Nation)에서 하루 평균 5만gpd(189㎥/일)의 막 생물반응기(MBR ; membrane bioreactor) 시스템의 설계 및 공급을 받았다. H2O 이노베이션은 장비 공급 외에도 고객 현장의 운영 팀을 위한 광범위한 교육과 발전소가 가동된 후 5년간 팀을 지원하기 위한 연장 서비스 계약을 제공할 계획이다.

H2O 이노베이션의 세 번째 프로젝트는 캐나다 퀘벡(Quebec) 구인 저수지(Gouin Reservoir) 북쪽 해안에 위치한 퍼스트 네이션 공동체를 위해 지표수를 처리하는 45만7천gpd(1천730 ㎥/일)의 막 시스템 설계와 공급을 포함한다. 공급 범위에는 멀티미디어 여과(MMF ; multimedia filtration)를 통한 전처리, 나노여과(NF ; nanofiltration) 트렌인과 소독용 자외선(UV ; ultraviolet )이 포함된다.

이 처리 과정은 모든 부유물과 대부분의 용해된 유기물을 제거함으로써 뛰어난 식수 품질을 제공한다. 또한 신뢰성 있는 운영과 최적의 처리성능을 보장하기 위해 원격감시 및 시스템 분석을 포함한 처리장운영 서비스 계약을 체결할 예정이다.

H2O 이노베이션은 보존된 물과 하·폐수 인프라를 개선하고 깨끗한 식수에 대한 접근을 확대하기 위해 퍼스트 네이션스 커뮤니티와 협력하고 있다. 안정적인 인프라는 캐나다 원주민 서비스의 핵심 우선순위이다.

캐나다 정부에 따르면, 2021년 3월 31일 현재, 20억5천만 달러의 목표 기금이 물 및 하·폐수 관련 인프라 프로젝트 지원에 투자되었다. 34개 퍼스트 네이션스 커뮤니티에서 시행 중인 나머지 53개 장기 식수 권고에 대해서는 아직 할 일이 남아 있으며, 이 문제를 해결하는 데 도움을 줄 전문지식이 있다.

H2O Innovation Wins a Water Reuse Project and Two First Nations Projects

H2O Innovation Inc. (“H2O Innovation” or the “Corporation”) is pleased to announce that it has recently won a water reuse project in California, two First Nations projects in Canada and another small-scale one. These contracts, with a total value of $9.9 M, bring the Water Technologies & Services (“WTS”) backlog to $41.2 M.

H2O Innovation will be supplying a water reuse system for a major client located in Escondido, California. This project will incorporate ultrafiltration (“UF”) system followed by reverse osmosis (“RO”). The UF will be designed to have a net filtrate production capacity of 2.5 MGD (9,460 m3/day), while the RO has a permeate capacity of 2.0 MGD (7,570 m3/day). 

The system will treat tertiary effluent from the existing recycled water system to produce high purity recycled water that will be blended with the existing recycled water supply and used for agricultural irrigation.

“Our growing experience in the application of membrane technology to safely reuse treated water fits with our ongoing focus on this market as part of our 3-Year Strategic Plan. California and much of the Western US have experienced in recent years one of the most severe droughts on record. Water reuse is critical to the development of a diverse and resilient water supply.” 

“With the recent US Infrastructure and Jobs Act set to invest $1 billion in water recycling programs over the next five years, we consider being well positioned to be a part of the future of water reuse in North America”,  stated Gregory Madden, Chief Strategy Officer of H2O Innovation.

The Corporation was also awarded the design and supply of a membrane bioreactor (“MBR”) system with an average day flow of 50,000 gpd (189 m3/day) for the Dene Tha’ First Nation in Northern Alberta (Canada). In addition to the supply of equipment, H2O Innovation will provide extensive training for the operations team at the customer’s site and an extended service contract to support the team for five years after the plant goes online.

The third project involves the design and supply of a 457,000 gpd (1,730 m3/day) membrane system treating surface water for a First Nation community located on the north shore of Gouin Reservoir in Quebec (Canada). The scope of supply incudes pretreatment through multimedia filtration (“MMF”), followed by nanofiltration (“NF”) trains, and ultraviolet (“UV”) radiation for disinfection. 

The treatment process will provide exceptional drinking water quality by removing all suspended matter and most dissolved organics. The Corporation will also provide a service contract for plant operation including remote monitoring with data acquisition and system analysis to ensure reliable operation and optimal treatment performance.

The Corporation continues to work in partnership with First Nations communities to improve on-reserve water and wastewater infrastructure and expand access to clean drinking water. Reliable infrastructure is a key priority for Indigenous Services Canada.

 As of March 31, 2021, $2.05 billion of targeted funds has been invested to support water and wastewater-related infrastructure projects (Source: Government of Canada). There is still work to do for the remaining 53 long-term drinking water advisories in effect in 34 First Nations communities, and the Corporation has the expertise to help solve these issues.
