[체코] 수에즈, 체코에서 10년간 상하수도 운영 계약 체결

자회사 VHS 베네쇼프, 10년간 스폴레츠나 보다 지역 식수 공급·하수처리 운영

수에즈가 지분 50%를 소유한 체코의 VHS 베네쇼프(VHS Benesov)는 2022년 말에 새로 설립된 지방자치단체인 스폴레츠나 보다(Spolecna voda)와 10년간 상하수도 운영 계약을 체결했다.

총 2억 유로(2천689억 원) 규모인 이번 계약은 베네쇼프(Benesov)와 블라심(Vlasim) 지역의 17개 지방자치단체의 정수처리와 식수 공급, 하수 수집·처리를 포괄한다. VHS 베네쇼프는 이 지역의 5만 명의 주민들에게 식수 공급과 하수처리 서비스를 제공한다.

이번 계약 체결은 3년 전 SUEZ와 자치단체 간에 시작된 협업의 마지막 단계로, 스폴레츠나 보다의 자발적인 지방자치단체의 설립과 수에즈가 VHS 베네쇼프의 50%의 주주로 가입, 운영회사인 VHS 베네쇼프와 스폴레츠나 보다의 자발적인 지방자치단체간의 장기적인 계약 관계의 체결에 따라 진행된다.

중앙 보헤미아(Central Bohemia)의 이 새로운 10년 계약은 5만 명의 주민들에게 식수 공급 및 하수 수집·처리를 한다. 지역에 스마트 계량기를 배치하는 등 물을 보존하기 위한 해결책이 포함된다.

이번 계약은 체코에서 30년 이상 운영되어 온 SUEZ의 입지를 더욱 강화하는 것을 의미한다.

수에즈는 브르노(Brno)와 그 주변 지역의 브르노 상수도 및 하수도 회사, 오스트라바(Ostrava)의 오스트라바 수도 및 하수도 회사, 카를로비 바리(Karlovy Vary) 수도 및 타초프(Tachov) 지역의 카를로비 바리 수도 및 하수도 회사, 베네쇼프와 블라심의 VHS 베네쇼바 등 4개의 전문회사를 통해 체코 물산업에 참여하고 있다.

이들 4개 수도회사는 체코 주민 100만 명에게 식수 공급 및 배출된 하수를 수집해 처리하고 있다. 이들 회사에서는 1천700여명의 직원을 고용하고 있으며, 2022년에는 2억 유로의 매출을 올렸다.

수에즈는 또한 국내 2대 하수처리장인 브르노모다이스(Brno-Modaice) 하수처리장과 프라하-트로하(Prague-Troja) 하수처리장 건설을 위한 컨소시엄에 참여했다.

스폴레츠나 보다(Spolecna voda) 자치단체의 회장인 야로슬라프 흘라브니카(Jaroslav Hlavnicka)는 “우리는 새롭게 형성된 지방자치단체의 자발적인 협회가 자본을 가지고 운영하는 수도회사인 VHS 베네쇼바에 들어갈 수 있었고 동시에 이 회사와 10년 동안 새로운 계약을 체결할 수 있었다는 것을 매우 기쁘게 생각한다”고 말했다. 

그는 이어 “수에즈와 VHS 베네쇼바는 우리 지역의 물산업의 장기적인 안정과 시민들에게 양질의 서비스를 제공하는 데 기여할 것이라고 생각한다”라면서 “우리는 VHS 베네쇼프와 매우 좋은 경험을 했고, 나는 이것이 앞으로도 계속 그럴 것이라고 믿는다”라고 덧붙였다.

SUEZ strengthens its position in the Czech Republic with a new 10-year water and wastewater contract for 17 municipalities in Central Bohemia

 

VHS Benesov, in which SUEZ owns a 50 % stake, signed at the very end of 2022 a new 10-year contract with the newly established voluntary association of municipalities "Spolecna voda". 

With a cumulative turnover of 200 million euros, this contract covers the treatment and distribution of drinking water and the collection and treatment of wastewater for 17 municipalities in the Benesov and Vlasim regions. It will provide water and wastewater services for 50 000 inhabitants of the region.

The signing of the contract is the final step of a collaboration started 3 years ago between SUEZ and local municipalities. It takes place following the creation of the voluntary association of municipalities Spolecna voda, its entry into VHS Benesov as a 50 % shareholder, and the conclusion of a long-term contractual relationship between the operating company VHS Benesov and the voluntary association of municipalities Spolecna voda.

This new 10-year contract in Central Bohemia will allow for water supply and wastewater collection for 50,000 inhabitants. It will include solutions to preserve water such as the deployment of smart meters in the region.

It represents a further strengthening of SUEZ's position in the Czech Republic, which has been operating there for more than 30 years. 

SUEZ is present in the Czech water industry through four dedicated companies: the Brno Waterworks and Sewerage Company, in Brno and its surroundings, the Ostrava Waterworks and Sewerage Company, in Ostrava, the Karlovy Vary Waterworks and Sewerage Company, mainly in the Karlovy Vary and Tachov regions and the VHS Benesov a.s. in the Benesov and Vlasim regions.

Together, these four water companies supply drinking water as well as collecting and treating wastewater for 1 million inhabitants of the Czech Republic. They employ almost 1,700 employees and will have a turnover of almost 200 million euros in 2022. 

SUEZ also participated in consortiums for the construction of two major wastewater treatment plants in the country, the Brno-Modrice wastewater treatment plant and the the Prague-Troja wastewater treatment plant.

Jaroslav Hlavnicka, Chairman of the voluntary Association of municipalities called Spolecna voda, commented: "We are very pleased that our newly formed voluntary association of municipalities was able to enter the operating water company VHS Bene?ov a.s. with capital and at the same time to conclude a new contract with this company for 10 years." 

"I am of the opinion that both will contribute to the long-term stabilization of the water industry in our region and to the provision of quality services to our citizens. We have had very good experiences with VHS Benesov and I believe that this will continue to be the case in the future."
