American Water Works Buys Water From Empire District Electric Company
JOPLIN, Mo. (BUSINESS WIRE) The Empire District Electric Company (NYSE:EDE) today announced that it has signed a letter of intent to sell the Aurora, Verona, and Marionville water systems to Missouri-American Water Company.
Details and a timetable for the sale have not been disclosed at this time.
Missouri-American Water Company is a part of the American Water Works Company. Missouri-American serves in excess of 94,000 water customers throughout seven districts in Missouri, including Joplin, Warrensburg, Platte County, Brunswick, St. Joseph, Mexico, and St. Charles County. American Water Works Company serves over 7 million people in 22 states throughout the nation. The Empire District Electric Company provides electric service to approximately 145,000 customers in southwest Missouri, southeast Kansas, northeast Oklahoma, and northwest Arkansas. The Company also provides monitored security, fiber optic service, and decorative lighting.
