[UAE] EGA, 제벨 알리에 2억7천200만 달러 규모 담수화 설비 건설

아랍에미레이트연합(UAE)의 무바달라(Mubadala)와 두발홀딩(Dubal Holding) 등 두 기업은 UAE 두바이(Dubai)의 제벨 알리(Jebel Ali)에서 에미레이트 글로벌 알루미늄(Emirates Global Aluminum, EGA)의 제련소에서 새로운 전력 및 담수화 설비를 개발 중이다.

새로운 전력 및 수도시설은 EGA의 제련소에서 온실가스 배출량을 10% 감축할 것으로 예상된다.

무바달라(Mubadala)와 두발홀딩(Dubal Holding) 등 두 회사는 EGA의 공동 소유자이며 새로운 프로젝트를 개발하기 위한 합작투자회사를 설립할 예정이다. 프로젝트 가치는 10억 AED(2억7천200만 달러)이나 된다. 이 프로젝트는 25년 동안 독립적인 전력 생산자(IPP) 계약으로 구성되어 있다.

EGA는 두바이 전력 수자원국(DEWA)과 아부다비 수자원국(ADWEA) 이후 아랍에미레이트연합(UAE)에서 가장 큰 전력 생산업체이다.

이 새로운 설비는 600MW의 전기를 생산하는 복합발전소와 역삼투 담수화 플랜트로 구성된다. 지멘스(Siemens)는 UAE에서 최초로 H등급 가스터빈을 설치한다. 이 프로젝트가 완료되면 현장에 있는 더 오래되고 작고 덜 효율적인 5대의 터빈이 비상사태시 사용 대기 상태가 된다.

새로운 설비는 온실가스 배출량을 10% 감축하는 것을 포함하여 EGA의 알루미늄 제련에 대한 전력 효율을 개선 할 것으로 기대된다.

EGA plans $272 million power and water plant at Jebel Ali

Mubadala and Dubal Holding are developing a new power and desalination facility at Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA)’s smelter in Jebel Ali, Dubai.

The new power and water facility is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at EGA’s smelter by 10 per cent

The two companies are joint owners of EGA, and will establish a joint venture to develop the new project. The project value is AED 1 billion ($272 million). It is structured as an independent power producer (IPP) contract over 25 years.

EGA is the largest power producer in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA).

The new facility will comprise a combined cycled power plant generating 600 MW of electricity and a reverse osmosis desalination plant. Siemens is to install an H-class gas turbine, the first such in the UAE. Once the project is complete, five older, smaller and less efficient turbines at the site will be put on standby for use in emergencies.

The new facilities are expected to improve the efficiency of power for EGA’s aluminium smelting, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 10 per cent.

“Our project includes a combined cycle power facility and a reverse osmosis water desalination plant that support the objectives of the UAE Vision 2021 and the UAE Centennial 2071,” said Mohammaed Al Tayer, vice chairman of Dubal Holding and EGA.
