Carrasco to Head New American Water Services Contract Operations Division
BUSINESS WIRE(2000³â 2¿ù7ÀÏ)
[MARLTON, N.J.]
American Water Works Company, Inc., the largest investor-owned water utility in the United States, has finalized its purchase of Anglian Water's interest in AmericanAnglian.

The new entity, American Water Services, Inc. will focus on the growing contract operations segment of the water and wastewater market. Jorge Carrasco, who joined American Water in 1996 and most recently served as president of American International Water Services, will oversee the enterprise.

A wholly owned subsidiary of American Water Works, American Water Services is the seventh largest contract operations firm in the United States, managing and operating 175 water and wastewater facilities in 7 states.
Its core services include full contract operations, management of water and wastewater utility systems, long-term leasing, and commercial services for those customers not ready to contract their operations.

In addition, American Water Services will support communities and industries interested in outsourcing the design, construction, financing/ownership, and operation of key water and wastewater facilities, or sale of their utility system.

"Our goal is to be the operator of choice when it comes to addressing any water resource management issue confronted by government or industry," said Mr. Carrasco. "American Water's geographic presence, financial strength, and exceptional technical expertise will allow us to continue to form successful partnerships like we have today with the cities of Buffalo, NY and Danville, VA. These are just two examples of what we hope to achieve with countless other communities interested in receiving reliable, cost-effective, high-quality utility service."

American Water Services will build on American Water's existing relationships with over 900 communities and 10 million people in 23 states to provide additional services to current customers, as well as seek new opportunities to manage and operate utility systems.
