[영국] 서번 트렌트 워터, 에보쿠아 BioMag 처리시스템 선정

영국 상하수도 사업자인 서번 트렌트 워터(Severn Trent Water)와 설계 및 시공 파트너인 코스타인(Costain)은 영국의 서번 럭비 하·폐수처리장(Severn's Rugby Sewage Treatment Works)에서 생산량을 늘리고 인(P)을 저감시키기 위해 에보쿠아 워터 테크놀러지(Evoqua Water Technologies)의 바이오맥(BioMag) 밸러스트 처리 시스템을 선택했다.

‘럭비(Rugby)’는 미국 전역의 시설에서 7년 이상 사용되어온 Evoqua의 Ballasted BioMag 시스템 정착 기술을 영구적으로 설치 한 유럽 최초의 폐수 처리 공장이 될 것이다.

BioMag 시스템은 Severn Trent Water가 처리된 물이 에이번(Avon)강으로 배출되기 전에 총 부유 고형물과 인을 모두 줄이는 데 도움이 된다.

BioMag 시스템은 기존의 활성 슬러지 공정을 향상시키기 위해 마그네타이트(완전히 비활성 인 철광석 입자)를 사용한다. 결과적으로, 기존 최종 정화조를 통한 정산은 작업에서 예상되는 유량의 25% 증가가 예측되더라도 크게 향상된다.

시몬 레드포드(Simon Radford) Evoqua 폐수처리 사업부 영국 영업매니저는 "럭비의 경우 새로운 인(P)의 한계와 예상 인구증가에 대처하기 위해 새로운 BioMag 시스템이 설치될 예정이다. 즉, 이 플랜트는 더 많은 폐기물 폐기물을 더 나은 품질로 처리할 수 있다는 것을 의미한다" 면서 "최종 정착 탱크를 추가하는 것의 대안으로, BioMag 시스템을 통해 사용자는 새로운 주요 토목 구조물의 일부 비용으로 기존 자산을 최대한 활용할 수 있다"고 강조했다.

BioMag 시스템을 설치 한 후, 럭비 공장은 2028년까지 예상되는 60,000㎥/일로 25%의 유량 증가를 처리할 것으로 예상된다.

Severn Trent Water selects Evoqua’s BioMag for Rugby, UK facility

Severn Trent Water and its design and construction partner Costain have selected Evoqua Water Technologies’s BioMag® ballasted clarification system to increase output and reduce phosphorus at Severn’s Rugby Sewage Treatment Works in the UK.

Rugby will be Europe’s first wastewater treatment plant with a permanent installation of Evoqua’s ballasted BioMag system settling technology, which has been used in facilities throughout the United States for more than seven years.

The BioMag system will help Severn Trent Water reduce both total suspended solids and phosphorus before the treated water discharges into the River Avon.

The BioMag system uses the addition of magnetite - fully inert, iron ore particles - to enhance the existing activated sludge process. As a result, the settlement across the existing final settlement tanks is greatly improved even with the predicted 25% increase in flow anticipated at the works.

“For Rugby, the new BioMag system will be installed to combat both the new phosphorus limit and the expected increase in the local population, which means that the plant will be able to treat more effluent waste to a better quality,’’ explained Simon Radford, UK sales manager of Evoqua’s Wastewater Treatment business. “As an alternative to adding more Final Settlement Tanks, the BioMag system allows the user to get more out of their existing assets at a fraction of the cost of such major new civil structures.”

Following installation of the BioMag system it is expected that the Rugby plant will process the 25% increase in flow to a predicted 60 000 m3/day by 2028.
