Energy & Sustainability 2014 is the 5th International Conference in the series, following the meetings held in the New Forest, home of the Wessex Institute of Technology, in 2007; the second in Bologna (2009); the third in Alicante (2011); and the fourth in 2013 in Bucharest.
The modern world is highly dependent on the exploitation of fossil fuels. More recently, resources depletion and severe environmental effects deriving from the continuous use of these fuels has resulted in an increasing amount of interest in renewable energy resources and the search for sustainable energy policies.
The changes required to progress from an economy mainly based on hydrocarbons to one taking advantage of sustainable energy resources are massive and require considerable scientific research as well as engineering systems. The effect also involves collaboration between different disciplines in order to arrive at optimum solutions, including buildings, energy networks, convenience systems, new energy storage solutions, waste to energy technologies, and many others.
The Conference will cover the topics related to sustainability in energy and power production, storage, distribution and management.
Delegates attending Energy and Sustainability 2014 will be invited to submit an extended version of their paper for possible publication in the International Journal of Sustainable Development and Planning, one of the Journals published by the Wessex Institute.
MYRENTM¢â Malaysian Research and Education network
MYREN¢â is spearheaded by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE). MYREN¢â links twenty eight institutions of higher learning and research as well as twenty-two polytechnics and thirty-six community colleges throughout Malaysia. MYREN¢â is also linked to several other National Research & Education Networks (REN) overseas, including Asia Pacific, Europe & the United States. A government-funded programme, MYREN¢â aims to provide accessible broadband to all Malaysian researchers to run data-intensive applications, share computing equipment and run advanced applications within Malaysia as well as overseas.
