전 세계적으로 고급 폴리머 투약 시스템 시장이 확대되고 있다. 이에 발맞춰 왓슨말로우(Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions, WMFTS)는 모든 상하수도 처리 시설에서 효율적이고 안전하고 신뢰할 수 있는 폴리머 주입을 위해 Qdos 60 PU 연동 펌프를 출시했다고 밝혔다. 

폴리머(Polymers)는 주로 슬러지 처리 공정에서 응고 및 탈수 응용 분야에 사용된다. 슬러지를 탈수하면 슬러지 벌크가 최소화되어 저장 및 폐기와 관련된 비용을 최대 75%까지 줄일 수 있다.

효율적인 슬러지 탈수를 위해 전 세계적으로 강력한 규제 요인이 있다.

슬러지 탈수 공정에서 폴리머의 정확하고 신뢰할 수 있는 정량 주입은 적절하게 관리하는 데 필수적이다.

Qdos 60 PU는 최대 60L/h의 선형 유량과 최대 5 bar의 압력에서 슬러지 흐름 및 지방족 탄화수소류(aliphatic hydrocarbons)를 포함해 취급하기 어려운 많은 유체에 대해 정확하고 반복 가능한 흐름을 제공한다. 이 펌프는 폐수 처리에 사용되는 폴리아크릴아미드(PAM) 및 기타 응집제 및 응고제와 같은 복합 폴리머에 탁월한 호환성을 제공한다.

WMFTS에서 수십 년간의 엔지니어링 전문 지식과 연구 개발 경험을 활용한 Qdos 60 PU는 저전단, 부드러운 펌핑에 최적화되어 폴리머 체인을 보호하고 제품 무결성을 유지한다. Ehgks Qdos 20 PU와 마찬가지로 지방족 탄화수소류의 저항성 튜브 재료를 사용하여 연동 펌프의 화학적 호환성을 향상시킨다.

연동 펌프는 향상된 정확도와 신뢰성을 포함하여 PAM 계량 응용 분야에서 다이어프램 펌프에 비해 현저한 이점이 있다. 막힐 위험이 있는 다이어프램, 밸브 또는 씰이 필요하지 않다.

WMFTS의 제품 관리자인 아딜 핫산(Adeel Hassan)은 “새로운 Qdos ReNu PU 펌프헤드는 Qdos 시리즈의 적용 범위를 확장했다. 이 다목적 펌프는 다양한 분야의 다양한 응용 분야에서 최대 120L/h 및 7bar 압력의 액체를 정확하고 안전하게 주입하는 데 사용할 수 있다. 요구 사항에 따라 다양한 크기와 제어 옵션으로 제공된다”고 말했다.

WMFTS는 특히 펌프의 일체형 누출 감지 및 화학 물질 봉쇄 기능으로 인해 시장 범위가 크게 성장할 것으로 예상하여 작업자가 유지 관리 중에 화학 물질에 노출되는 것을 줄여준다.

독일 하이데에 있는 한 하·폐수 처리장에서 Qdos 60 PU 정량 펌프를 도입해 처리하기 어려운 폴리머 및 기타 탄화수소도 쉽게 주입할 수 있었다.

공장의 하·폐수 처리 관리자인 피터 도른(Peter Dohrn)은 "엔지니어들은 높은 수준의 정확성, 사용 용이성, 조작성, 최대 공정 보안을 보고하고 있다"면서 “첫 번째 펌프헤드는 순전히 예방 조치로 교체하기 전에 1년 동안 순조롭게 작동했고 두 번째 펌프헤드는 지난 6개월 동안 아무 문제 없이 작동했다. 펌프헤드를 교체하는 데 몇 분 밖에 걸리지 않았다”고 말했다.

식음료 산업의 고객도 Qdos 60 PU 펌프의 이점을 누릴 수 있다. Qdos 60 PU 펌프는 지방, 오일 및 그리스와도 호환되며 FDA(Food and Drug Administration) 및 EC(European Commission) 1935/2004 인증을 획득했다.

With an expanding market worldwide for advanced polymer dosing systems, the introduction of the Qdos 60 PU peristaltic pump from Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS) is a timely addition to the company’s range. It means operators can now deploy efficient, safe, and reliable polymer metering at any water or wastewater treatment plant.

Polymers are used mostly in coagulation and dewatering applications in the sludge treatment process. Dewatering sludge minimizes sludge bulk, which can reduce the cost associated with storage and disposal by up to 75 per cent.

There are strong regulatory drivers globally for efficient sludge dewatering.

Accurate and reliable metering of polymers in the sludge dewatering process is essential to ensure it is managed properly.

The Qdos 60 PU offers precise and repeatable flows for many hard to handle fluids, including viscous flows and aliphatic hydrocarbons, at linear flow rates of up to 60 l/h and pressures of up to 5 bar. The pump provides excellent compatibility for complex polymers such as polyacrylamide (PAM) and other flocculants and coagulants used in wastewater treatment.

Leveraging decades of engineering expertise and research and development experience at WMFTS, the Qdos 60 PU is optimized for low-shear, gentle pumping to protect polymer chains and maintain product integrity.

As with the Qdos 20 PU, it uses an aliphatic hydrocarbon-resistant tubing material, enhancing chemical compatibility in peristaltic pumps.

Peristaltic pumps have notable advantages over diaphragm pumps in PAM metering applications, including enhanced accuracy and reliability. There is no need for diaphragms, valves, or seals that risk clogging.

The highly innovative design of Qdos pumps means the only part of the pump that ever requires replacing is the patented ReNu pumphead. The ReNu pumphead offers repeatable, accurate flow rates, and lasts longer for tough applications in the field. It takes less than a minute to replace the ReNu pumphead - a new pumphead is a new peristaltic pump, ready to serve again.

WMFTS expects market scope to grow significantly, particularly with the pump’s integral leak detection and chemical containment capability, which reduces operators' exposure to chemicals during maintenance.

At one wastewater treatment plant in Heide, Germany, the Qdos 60 PU metering pump is enabling the easy dosing of even hard-to-process polymers and other hydrocarbons.

“Engineers are reporting high levels of accuracy, ease of use and manoeuvrability, coupled with maximum process security,” said Peter Dohrn, wastewater treatment manager for the plant.

“The first pumphead ran smoothly for a year before we had to replace it, purely as a preventive measure, and the second has been working without any trouble for the last six months. Replacing the pumphead only takes a few minutes.”

Customers in the food and beverage industry can also benefit from the Qdos 60 PU pump as it is also compatible with fats, oils, and grease, and is Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Commission (EC) 1935/2004 certified.
