[캐나다] 연방정부, 화이트호스 3개 하수 프로젝트 280만달러 지원

캐나다 연방정부는 유콘(Yukon)주 정부와 수도인 화이트호스(Whitehorse)시가 추진할 3개의 하수 프로젝트에 연방가스세금기금(Federal Gas Tax Fund)에서 280만 달러의 기금을 지원한다고 4월 26일 발표했다.

화이트호스시의 댄 커티스(Dan Curtis) 시장은 "연방 정부의 가스세금기금(Government Gas Tax Fund)을 통해 화이트호스시는 노후된 하수 인프라를 개선하고 주민들에게 신뢰할 수 있는 하수처리 시스템을 제공할 수 있게 되었다”면서 "우리는 이 기금을 지원해주는 연방정부와 유콘주 관계자들에게 매우 감사한다"고 말했다.

화이트호스시는 이 기금을 투입하여 도시 하수의 대부분을 처리하는 마웰(Marwell) Lift Station의 효율성을 높이기 위해 하수처리 시설을 업그레이드할 예정이다. 번스 로드(Burns Road)의 빗물 하수도의 업그레이드와 Hidden Valley Storm Pond에서 배출수를 위한 파이프 설치 및 수로 건설을 통해 이 지역의 빗물을 관리할 계획이다.

화이트호스시는 이 프로젝트가 완료되면 주민들에게 신뢰할 수 있는 하수관리 서비스를 제공하게 된다.

Three wastewater projects in Whitehorse receive $2.8M in funding

WHITEHORSE, CANADA, APRIL 27, 2017 -- The Government of Yukon and City of Whitehorse announced funding of $2.8 million under the federal Gas Tax Fund for three wastewater projects in Whitehorse, Canada.

"Through the federal Gas Tax Fund, the City of Whitehorse is able to improve our aging infrastructure and ensure residents have reliable wastewater systems," said Dan Curtis, Mayor of the City of Whitehorse. "We are very appreciative of this funding and our partners at Government of Yukon."

The Marwell Lift Station, which processes the majority of the city's wastewater, will be upgraded to improve its efficiency. Upgrades to the storm sewers on Burns Road, and a new outfall pipe and trench for the Hidden Valley Storm Pond will help manage stormwater in these neighborhoods.

Once complete, these projects will provide reliable sewage water management services for residents, which contributes to maintaining a healthy community and protecting property.

The Government of Canada will provide more than $180 billion in infrastructure funding over 12 years for public transit, green infrastructure, social infrastructure, transportation that supports trade, and Canada's rural and northern communities.

To meet the unique needs of rural and northern communities, Budget 2017 proposes to invest $2 billion to support a broad range of infrastructure projects.
