[캐나다] MGX, 퍼루시드와 함께 오일 샌드 폐수처리 프로젝트에서 지속적인 운영 발표

엠지엑스 미너럴즈사(MGX Minerals Inc)는 최근 엔지니어링 파트너인 퍼루시드 트릿먼트 설루션즈(PurLucid Treatment Solutions, 이하 PurLucid)가 최초의 고염도 염수(brine) 처리 시스템 시스템의 시운전을 보고했다고 발표했다. 

이 시스템은 2019년 초 앨버타(Alberta)의 중유 산업의 광범위한 폐수에 대한 독립적인 연구 시설에서 광범위하게 테스트되었으며, 3명의 잠재적인 산업 고객을 위한 처리 능력을 입증했다. 

'3 마일스톤(Milestone) 프로젝트'의 '마일스톤 2'를 완료한 것에 대한 컨소시엄 파트너 기여금 조합에서 460만 달러의 비용이 회수되었다.

이 프로젝트는 '3 마일스톤(Milestone) 프로젝트'에 들어섰으며, 이후 이 시스템은 '3 마일스톤(Milestone) 프로젝트' 중 성능 승인에 따라 상용 계약이 이미 협상 된 컨소시엄 파트너 인 알버타 북주(Northern Alberta)의 중간 규모 생산자 위치에 설치 및 시운전되었다.

 '3 마일스톤(Milestone) 프로젝트'가 완료되고 프로젝트가 상업용 계약으로 전환되면 3년 계약에 걸쳐 예상 수입은 270만 달러이며, 순이익은 27만 달러이다. 이 수치에는 장비 회수 기간이 포함되며 이는 계약 기간 동안 퍼루시드(Purlucid)의 자산으로 유지되며 추가 자본 비용 투자없이 재배치 또는 계약 갱신된다.

또한 PTS는 최초의 고압 시스템을 완성했으며 컨소시엄 파트너 사이트로 옮기는 과정에 있다. 컨소시엄 파트너와의 상업적 계약은 첫 번째 유닛과 유사하게 2020년 초 상업 운영으로 전환되면 3년 계약에서 약 30만 달러의 순이익으로 약 200만 달러의 수익을 창출 할 것으로 예상된다.

2019년 가을 2020년 3차 컨소시엄 회원 사이트에 설치하기 위해 3세대 이상의 시스템에 대한 엔지니어링이 완료될 예정이다. 유사한 계약에 따라 3년간의 계약을 통해 3억6천만 달러의 순이익이 48만 달러로 예상된다. 2020년 2분기에  '3 마일스톤(Milestone) 프로젝트'을 성공적으로 완료했다.

 '2 마일스톤(Milestone) 프로젝트'에서 이 기술의 성공은 사업 개발 채널을 열었고 PTS는 이제 광업 및 지열 수처리 분야에서 중유 부문 이외의 많은 더 큰 기회를 추구하고 있다.

■ 프로젝트 정보
폐수처리 컨소시엄 프로젝트의 운영 목표는 중유 소금물에서 실리카, 용해 이온 및 용해 오일을 제거하는 것이다. 이 기술은 100℃ 미만의 폐수관리 및 100℃ 이상의 고온 수 및 블로우 다운 처리에 대한 업계의 요구를 해결한다. 

110℃와 180℃사이에서 이러한 시스템은 SAGD CPF(Central Processing Facility)에서 현재 처리 시스템과 후속 필터를 교체하거나 제거할 수 있어 수처리 자본과 운영 비용을 줄이고 수처리 및 증기의 온실 가스 배출을 줄인다. 중공업 산업에 중대한 문제를 나타내는 고체 관리, 열교환 기 제거 및 설치 공간 감소를 통한 운영 생성 및 단순화할 수 있다.

퍼루시드는 기존의 대형 석유 및 가스 서비스 회사 직원과 산업 연구 개발 부서의 직원으로 구성된 수처리 및 폐수 처리 서비스 회사이다. Purlucid는 비슷한 기술의 90 %에 해당하는 에너지 요건으로 수처리에 혁명을 일으키고 폐수에서 귀중한 금속을 회수하면서 열 시설에서 실질적으로 온실 가스 배출을 줄일 수있는 새로운 기술을 도입하고 있다. 

Purlucid는 경질 기술 외에도 수자원 관리 물류의 불확실성을 크게 줄이고 자본 자산의 수명을 연장하며 비용을 절감 할 수있는 소프트웨어를 출시 할 예정이다. MGX는 PurLucid의 60 %를 소유하고 있으며 연속 투자를 통해 PurLucid에 대해 최대 100 %의 지분을 취득 할 권리가 있다.

MGX Minerals Announces Continuous Operations At Oilsands Wastewater Treatment Project With Engineering Partner PurLucid

MGX Minerals Inc. announced recently that engineering partner PurLucid Treatment Solutions (“PurLucid”) has reported commissioning of its first high salinity brine treatment system.

The system was extensively tested in early 2019 at an independent research facility on an extensive array of wastewaters from the heavy oil industry in Alberta and proved its treatment capabilities for three potential industry clients. $4.6M in costs was recouped from a combination of consortium partner contributions over the completion of Milestone 2 of the three-milestone Project.

The Project has entered Milestone 3 with the system subsequently installed and commissioned at a mid-sized producer location in Northern Alberta, a consortium partner where a commercial contract has already been negotiated for activation following performance acceptance during Milestone 3.

Commercial scale continuous operations commenced July 25, 2019. Once Milestone 3 is completed and the Project transitions to the commercial contract, expected revenue is $1.8M with an estimated net profit of $270,000 over a three-year contract. These figures are inclusive of equipment payback, which remains the property of Purlucid throughout the life of the contract and will be redeployed or contract renewed at no additional capital cost investment.

Additionally, PTS has completed its first high pressure system and is in the process of moving it to the consortium partner site. A commercial contract has been signed with the consortium partner that, similar to the first unit, will generate revenue of approximately $2M with an estimated net profit of $300,000 over a three-year contract once it transitions to commercial operations in early 2020.

Engineering for a third and larger system will be completed in fall 2019 for installation at a third consortium member site in early 2020. Under similar arrangements, it is expected to generate $3.2M with an estimated net profit of $480,000 over a three-year contract upon successful completion of Milestone 3 in Q2, 2020.

The success of our technologies during Milestone 2 has opened business development channels and PTS is now pursuing a number of larger opportunities outside the heavy oil sectors in mining and geothermal water treatment.

About The Project
The operational objective of the Wastewater Treatment Consortium Project is to remove silica, dissolved ions and dissolved oil from heavy oil brines. The technology addresses industry needs in managing wastewater below 100°C and in treating hot produced water and blowdown above 100°C.

At between 110°C and 180°C, such a system can replace or debottleneck current treatment systems and subsequent filters at a SAGD Central Processing Facility (CPF), thereby reducing water treatment capital and operating costs, reducing GHG emissions of water treatment and steam generation, and simplifying operations through solids management, elimination of heat exchangers and reduction of footprint, each of which represent significant problems for the heavy oil industry.
