[미국] 듀폰워터, 모듈식 한외여과 플랜트, 국제담수화협회 최고 기술상 수상

전 세계 인구가 증가함에 따라 안전한 식수의 필요성이 계속 증가하고 있다. 듀폰(DuPont) 안전건설부문의 사업부인 듀폰 워터 솔루션(DuPont Water Solutions)는 이집트의 물 수요 충족 노력을 인정받아 '2019 최고의 국제담수협회(IDA) 최우수 디스럼티브(Disruptive) 기술상'을 수상했다. 

통합 환경기술 및 석유 서비스 회사인 SAE(IETOS)와 협력하여 이집트 수에즈에 건설된 새로운 한외 여과 플랜트에 대한 듀폰의 혁신적인 모듈 식 설계가 전시되었다.

듀폰 워터 솔루션(DuPont Water Solutions)의 글로벌 부사장 겸 총책임자인 HP 난다(Nanda)는“중동 및 북아프리카에서는 전 세계 인구의 6%가 전세계 재생가능한 물 공급의 2% 미만에 의존하고 있다"라면서 "IETOS와의 협력으로 이 지역의 고유한 시스템 및 수질요구를 효율적으로 충족시키는 혁신적인 솔루션을 만들었다"라고 말했다.

사전 엔지니어링 및 사전 조립된 인테그러팩(IntegraPac) 한외여과장치로 구축된 새로운 분산형 UF 플랜트는 모듈식 시스템 설계로 기존 설계보다 적은 부품과 재료를 요구하므로 설치 프로세스가 단순해진다. 혁신적인 설계 덕분에 시설은 일반적으로 완공에 필요한 12 개월과 비교하여 단 3개월만에 완전히 작동할 수 있었다.

듀폰 워터 솔루션(DuPont Water Solutions)의 EMEA 상무이사인 알렉산더 레인(Alexander Lane)은“분산형 수처리는 추가 자본 비용과 운영비용을 발생시키지 않고 깨끗한 물에 접근해야 하는 수에즈(Suez)와 같은 지역 사회를 위한 장기적인 솔루션이다"라면서 "이 새로운 시설의 독창적인 모듈식 설계는 추가비용을 발생시키지 않고 물 수요가 증가하는 동안 미래의 공급 변동을 신속하게 처리 할 수 있는 유연성을 제공한다"고 강조했다.

처리 화학물질을 많이 첨가하지 않고도 안전하고 고품질의 식수를 제공하는 효율성은 시스템의 또 다른 핵심 요소이다. 인테그러팩(IntegraPac) UF 기술은 발자국을 줄이고 생산성을 향상시키는 혁신적인 XP 섬유로 수처리에 탁월하다. 변동을 수용하기 위해 베이(bays)에 추가 모듈을 추가할 수 있으며 필요한 경우 모듈식 UF 스키드(skids)를 다른 위치로 옮길 수 있다.

IETOS의 CEO인 하젬 가버(Hazem Gaber)는“이상은 DuPont의 최신 기술을 사용하여 보다 혁신적인 아이디어를 개발할 수 있는 길을 열어주었다"라면서 "우리는 지역사회가 물 부족 문제를 극복할 수 있도록 이 협력을 통해 미래의 성공을 고대하고 있다"고 말했다.

 2019년 IDA 어워드는 10월 23일 IDA 월드 콩그레스의 '지속 가능성에 대한 교차점("Crossroads to Sustainability)' 갈라 디너에서 발표되었다.

최고의 파괴 기술상은 혁신적인 기술을 채택한 프로젝트의 뛰어난 성과를 인정하고 비즈니스 수행 방식을 변화시킨다. 수상자는 산업 및 지속 가능성 상위원회에서 선정한다.

 IDA는 60개국에서 2,600명 이상의 핵심 회원을 지원하고 정부, 기업 및 학계의 과학자, 최종 사용자, 엔지니어, 컨설턴트 및 연구원으로 구성된 추가 4,000개의 제휴 회원에 도달하는 비영리 협회이다.

DuPont Water Solutions' Modular Ultrafiltration Design Awarded Best Disruptive Technology By International Desalination Association

As global population expands, the need for safe drinking water continues to grow. DuPont Water Solutions, a business unit of the DuPont Safety & Construction division, was awarded the 2019 International Desalination Association (IDA) Award for Best Disruptive Technology in recognition of its efforts to meet water demand in Egypt.

DuPont’s innovative, modular design of a new ultrafiltration plant constructed in Suez, Egypt in partnership with Integrated Environmental Technology and Oil Services Company S.A.E (IETOS) was showcased.

“In the Middle East and North Africa, six percent of the world’s population depends on less than two percent of the world’s renewable water supply,” said HP Nanda, Global Vice President and General Manager at DuPont Water Solutions. “Our collaboration with IETOS created a disruptive solution that efficiently meets unique system and water quality needs in the region.”

Built from pre-engineered and pre-assembled IntegraPac Ultrafiltration units, the new decentralized UF plant has a modular system design that requires fewer parts and materials than traditional designs, resulting in a simplified installation process. The innovative design allowed the facility to become fully operational in just three months - compared to the 12 months typically needed for completion.

“Decentralized water treatment is a long-term solution for communities ? like those in Suez - that require access to clean water without incurring additional large capital costs and operational expenses,” said Alexander Lane, Commercial Director EMEA at DuPont Water Solutions. “The uniquely modular design of this new facility provides the necessary flexibility to swiftly address future supply fluctuations amid rising water demand without incurring added costs."

Efficiency is another key factor in the system - delivering safe, high-quality drinking water without the heavy addition of treatment chemicals. IntegraPac UF technology excels in water treatment with a reduced footprint and innovative XP fibers that boost productivity. Additional modules can be added to the bays to accommodate fluctuations, and the modular UF skids can be moved to another location if needed.

“This award has paved the way for us to develop more innovative ideas using DuPont’s state-of-the-art technologies,” said Hazem Gaber, CEO, IETOS. “We are looking forward to future success from this cooperation to help our community overcome water scarcity problems.”

The 2019 IDA Awards were presented at the IDA World Congress' "Crossroads to Sustainability" Gala Dinner on October 23.

The Best Disruptive Technology Award recognizes outstanding performance of a project that employed a breakthrough technology and changes the way business is conducted. Award winners are chosen by the Industry and Sustainability Awards Committee.
