[미국] 아쿠아 아메리카 CEO, 수도 시스템 인프라 관련 하원 증언

아쿠아 아메리카의 CEO인 크리스 프랭클린(Chris Franklin)은 미국 하원의 교통 및 인프라위원회 소위원회에 출석하여 수자원과 환경에 대해 증언할 예정이다.

프랭클린은 미국워터협회(Water Association of Water Companies)의 차기 회장이기도하다. 협회 회원들은 미국 전역의 7천300만 명의 사람들에게 상하수도 서비스를 제공하고 있다.

프랭클린은 "우리나라의 물과 하·폐수 인프라는 절실히 필요하다" 면서 “아쿠아(Aqua) 및 미국워터협회 회원 조직과 같은 회사는 민간자본을 투입하고 도시와 마을이 장기간 방치 된 수도 및 하·폐수 인프라 유지관리에 도움을 줄 수 있는 좋은 위치에 있다”고 강조했다.

프랭클린은 미 하원에 나가 △규제된 물 부문이 지역 사회의 깨끗한 물 수요에 투자할 것을 제안하는 재정적 도움 △고도로 세분화 된 식수 및 하·폐수 시스템에 자금, 운영 효율성 및 환경 준수에 대한 접근성을 제공하기 위해 물과 폐수 시스템 통합의 이점 △장기적이고 자본 집약적 인 인프라 프로젝트에 자금을 지원할 수 있는 규제 장벽 완화 △시스템 성능의 장기적인 비용에 대한 재무 실행 가능성 및 책임성 지원 등에 대해 말할 예정이다.

프랭클린은 "아쿠아 아메리카와 NAWC를 대표하게되어 기쁘다. 미국 정부의 물과 폐수 인프라 수요를 충족시킬 혁신적이고 지속 가능한 솔루션을 발굴하기 위해 연방 정부가 취할 수있는 행동을 논의 할 것"이라고 말했다.

Aqua America는 미국 최대의 물 관련 회사 중 하나로 펜실베니아, 오하이오, 노스캐롤라이나, 일리노이, 텍사스, 뉴저지, 인디애나 및 버지니아에서 약 300만 명의 사람들에게 수도 및 하·폐수처리 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 아쿠아 아메리카(Aqua America)는 뉴욕 증권 거래소 (WMA)에 상장되어 있다.

Aqua America CEO to testify to US House of Representatives on water systems, infrastructure

Aqua America's CEO Chris Franklin will testify to the US House of Representatives' Transportation and Infrastructure Committee's Subcommittee on Water Resources and the Environment.

Franklin is also president-elect of the National Association of Water Companies, an association whose members provide water and wastewater service to 73 million people across the U.S.

"Our nation's water and wastewater infrastructure is in dire need of attention," Franklin said. "Companies like Aqua and our fellow NAWC member organizations are well-positioned to put private capital to work and help cities and towns address long-neglected water and wastewater infrastructure maintenance. We hope to continue to be part of the solution."

Franklin is scheduled to outline recommendations regarding: The financial help that the regulated water sector offers to invest in communities' clean water needs.

The benefits of consolidating water and wastewater systems to bring highly fragmented drinking and wastewater systems access to funding, operational efficiencies and environmental compliance.

Lowering regulatory barriers that can allow financing for long-term, capital-intensive infrastructure projects.

Support for financial viability and accountability for long-term costs of system performance.

"I'm pleased to be representing both Aqua America and the NAWC to discuss the actions our federal government can take to unleash innovative and sustainable solutions that will meet America's water and wastewater infrastructure needs," Franklin said.
