[네덜란드] 로얄 하스코닝DHV·앵글리안 워터, 탄소중립 위한 슬러지 소화 기술 출시 위해 맞손

 

로얄 하스코닝DHV(Royal HaskoningDHV)와 앵글리안 워터(Anglian Water)는 협력 계약을 체결했다.

로얄 하스코닝DHV(Royal HaskoningDHV)와 앵글리안 워터(Anglian Water)는 앵글리안 워터가 개발한 HpH 소화(digestion) 기술을 영국과 해외 시장에 출시하기 위해 협력을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 이 협력으로 기존 앵글리안 워터의 HpH 특허권을 로얄 하스코닝DHV로 이전한다. '헬레아(Helea)'라는 이름에 이 기술은 물기업에게 고급 슬러지 소화 기술에 대한 보다 비용 효율적이고 지속 가능한 경로를 제공함으로써 탄소중립 목표를 충족시킬 수 있게 한다.

입증 된 품질

모든 하수처리장은 처리과정의 일부에서 슬러지를 생산한다. 이 바이오솔리드(biosolids)의 처리 및 폐기는 플랜트 운영 비용의 최대 70%를 차지할 정도로 많은 비용이 들어간다. 연간 약 15만 톤의 슬러지를 처리하는 앵글리안 워터는 슬러지로부터 시설의 바이오 가스 생산을 극대화 할 수있는 새로운 가수 분해 기술을 개발할 기회를 발견했다. 이 기술을 통해 운영 비용과 시설의 탄소 발자국도 줄일 수 있을 것이다. 이 기술은 현재 4개의 앵글리안 워터 슬러지 처리장에서 성공적으로 설치됐다.

'헬레아'는 하수시설에 바이오 가스의 생산량을 크게 증가시키는 소화 기술을 제공한다. 동시에, 남는 바이오솔리드를 농업에 영양 및 토양 개량제(soil conditioner)로 활용할 수 있는 고품질 바이오솔리드 자원으로 전환시킨다. 이러한 특성으로 하수 산업이 탄소중립 목표를 달성할 수 있도록 지원한다.

Royal HaskoningDHV and Anglian Water bring Net Zero digestion technology to water companies in the UK and abroad

Royal HaskoningDHV and Anglian Water have entered into a cooperation agreement to bring the HpH digestion technology, developed by Anglian Water, to market in the UK and abroad. Part of the agreement includes the transfer of the existing HpH patent to Royal HaskoningDHV. This technology will go to market under the name Helea and will support water companies to meet their Net Zero targets by offering a more affordable and sustainable route to advanced sludge digestion. 

Proven success

Every wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) produces sludge as part of the treatment process. The treatment and disposal of these biosolids is expensive, representing up to 70% of a plant’s operating costs. Responsible for processing around 150,000 tonnes of sludge per annum, Anglian Water identified an opportunity to develop a new hydrolysis technology that would maximise a plant’s biogas production from sludge. This would also reduce operating costs and the plant’s carbon footprint too. This technology is now successfully installed across four Anglian Water sludge treatment plants.

Helea provides wastewater companies with a technology that significantly increases the biogas yield over conventional digestion. At the same time, it transforms the remaining biosolids into a high-quality biosolids resource that can be utilised in agriculture as a nutrient and a soil conditioner. With these characteristics, it supports the wastewater industry to achieve its Net Zero Targets.
