글로벌 펌프기업인 자일럼(Xylem)은 이탈리아 북부에 "혁신센터"를 개설하여 주거용 및 상업용 건물 서비스 분야에서 차세대 펌핑 기술을 발전시키는 데 중점을 두고 있다.
 
수백만 유로에 달하는 투자를 담당하는 이 센터는 빌딩 제어 시스템과의 펌프 연결을 분석하여 시스템 효율을 최적화 할 수 있는 방법을 더 깊이 이해하도록 특별히 설계되었다.
 
 유럽연합(EU)의 ErP(에너지 관련 제품) 지침은 모터, 펌프 및 HVAC 서큘 레이터를 포함한 상업용 건물 장비로부터 새로운 수준의 효율성을 요구한다. 비슷한 표준이 북아메리카에서 설정된다.
 
자일럼(Xylem)은 차세대 고효율, 고도로 자동화되고 고도로 통합 된 펌핑 기술을 개발, 테스트 및 검증하기 위해이 센터를 사용할 계획이다.
 
 Amylee Valente는 자일럼(Xylem)의 Applied Water Systems 사업부의 기술혁신 및 기술 이사는 "녹색 건물이 예외가 아니라 규칙이 되기 때문에 고객이 전체 시스템의 효율성을 높이는 환경 및 경제적 이점을 이해하는 데 도움이 되는 것은 중요하다. 단지 개별 구성 요소가 아니다"라고 말했다.
 
Valente는 이어 "건물이 진정한 녹색을 유지하려면 구성 요소가 서로 통신 할 수 있어야 조정이 실시간으로 이루어져 효율성이 극대화되어야 한다”면서 “우리의 목표는 시스템 전반에 걸쳐 더 큰 상호 연결성을 유도하고 에너지 효율을 높이며 제품의 수명주기 비용을 줄이고 궁극적으로 고객을 위한 링 비용 절감을 실현하는 것이다”라고 강조했다.
 
IoT(Internet of Things) 기술을 배치하여 기존 펌프를 스마트 펌프로 전환하는 IoT를 통해 펌프 구성 요소를 연결하면 운영 효율성이 거의 45% 향상되고 적용 범위가 확대될 것으로 기대된다.

Xylem’s innovation center to analyse pump connectivity
   
MONTECCHIO MAGGIORE, Italy -- Xylem has opened an “innovation center” in northern Italy to focus on advancing next-generation pumping technologies for the residential and commercial building services sector.
 
Representing a multi-million euro investment, the center is specifically designed to further understanding of how system efficiency can be optimised by analysing a pump’s connectivity with a building control system.
 
The European Union’s ErP (Energy-related Products) Directive requires new levels of efficiency from commercial building equipment, including motors, pumps and HVAC circulators; similar standards are set to follow in North America.
 
Xylem plans to use the center to develop, test and validate the next generation of high-efficiency, highly-automated and highly-integrated pumping technologies.
 
Amedeo Valente, director of innovation and technology with Xylem’s Applied Water Systems business, said: “As green buildings become the rule rather than the exception, it is crucial to help our customers understand the environmental and economic benefits of ensuring entire systems are highly efficient, and not just individual components.”
 
Valente added: “For a building to be truly green, components need to be able to communicate with each other so that adjustments can be made in real-time to deliver maximum efficiency. Our ambition is to drive even greater interconnectivity across systems, enhancing energy efficiency, further reducing the life-cycle costs of our products and ultimately, delivering cost-savings for customers.
 
“The deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies - connecting pump components through IoT to turn traditional pumps into smart pumps - is expected to increase operational efficiency by nearly 45 percent and widen application scope.”
