아메레스코(Ameresco, Inc.)는 5월 28일(현지시각) 미국 메릴랜드주 칼리지파크(College Park)와 워싱턴 D.C.에 있는 미국 국립문서기록관리청(National Archives and Records Administration, NARA) 부지에서 3천300만 달러 규모의 '에너지 절감 성과 계약(Energy Savings Performance Contract, ESPC)'을 위한 프로젝트를 진행한다고 밝혔다. 

NARA ESPC 프로젝트는 아메레스코의 혁신적인 솔루션을 활용해 NARA 시설 전반의 에너지 효율성을 향상하고 상당한 비용 절감과 환경적 이점을 달성하도록 설계됐다. 이 프로젝트는 아메레스코가 지난 20년 동안 NARA와 공동 진행한 에너지 프로젝트 중 가장 최신의 프로젝트다. 

아메레스코는 NARA의 주력 시설에서 △첨단 시퀀싱(Advanced Sequencing) △냉난방 시스템 최적화(Optimization of Heating and Cooling Systems) △건물 변압기 교체(Building Transformer Replacements) △LED 조명(LED Lighting) △건물 외관 개선(Building Envelope Improvements) △배관 단열(Piping Insulation) △유틸리티 수도 절감(Utility Water Reduction) 등을 통해 건물자동화시스템(Building Automation System, BAS) 현대화를 구현하고 있다. 이를 통해 연간 화석연료 사용량 72%, 유틸리티 수도 사용량 48%, 전기 사용량 28%를 절감할 수 있다.

미국 에너지부(DOE)의 '에너지 절약 기술지원(Assisting Federal Facilities with Energy Conservation Technologies, AFFECT) 프로그램'으로부터 보조금을 받아 아메레스코는 태양열 옥상 PV, 전기 자동차 충전 등을 특징으로 하는 프로젝트에 에너지 효율적인 인프라를 추가하기 위해 NARA와 협력하고 있다.

ESPC 제공 모델은 NARA가 노후화된 인프라를 교체하고 에너지 소비와 탄소 배출을 줄이는 데 매우 중요하다. NARA를 지원한 이전 ESPC 프로젝트에서 아메레스코는 기존 인프라 문제를 해결하기 위해 고효율 장비를 배치해 상당한 비용 절감 효과를 거뒀다. 이번 ESPC는 NARA 시설에서 넷제로(Net-Zero)를 달성하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있다.

Ameresco Construction Underway for a $33 Million Energy Project to Reduce Emissions while Modernizing Infrastructure at Key U.S. National Archives and Records Administration Sites

Upon completion the ESPC project is expected to achieve approximately $2 million in annual savings, a 72% fossil fuel reduction, 48% utility water use reduction, and 28% electricity reduction.

 

FRAMINGHAM, MA and COLLEGE PARK, MD – May 28, 2024 – Ameresco, Inc., (NYSE: AMRC), a leading cleantech integrator specializing in energy efficiency and renewable energy, today announced that construction is underway for a $33 million Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) at the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) sites in College Park, Maryland, and Washington, DC. The project is designed to enhance energy efficiency across NARA’s facilities, leveraging Ameresco’s innovative solutions to achieve significant cost savings and environmental benefits.

This NARA ESPC project is the latest in a series of energy projects that Ameresco has undertaken in collaboration with NARA over the past 20 years. Ameresco is implementing building automation system (BAS) modernization with advanced sequencing, optimization of heating and cooling systems, building transformer replacements, LED lighting, building envelope improvements, piping insulation, and utility water reduction at NARA’s flagship facilities. Together, these measures are designed to reduce annual fossil fuel consumption by 72%, utility water use by 48%, and electricity use by 28%.

Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Assisting Federal Facilities with Energy Conservation Technologies (AFFECT) Program, NARA and Ameresco are now collaborating to add more energy efficient infrastructure into the project featuring more solar rooftop PV, a new chiller, and electrical vehicle (EV) Charging.

The ESPC delivery model was critical to NARA’s ability to replace aging infrastructure and reduce their energy consumption and carbon emissions. On previous ESPC projects supporting NARA, Ameresco deployed high-efficiency equipment to address legacy infrastructure issues, harvesting substantial savings. This latest ESPC is focused on bringing NARA’s facilities closer to net-zero emissions as required by Executive Order-14057.
