[미국] 앱터, USA Today 미국 기후 리더로 선정 '스코프 1,2 달성'

 

 

의약품 전달, 소비자 제품 분사 및 활성 물질 과학 솔루션 및 서비스 분야의 글로벌 리더인 앱터(Aptar Group, Inc.)가 USA 투데이(USA Today)가 선정한 미국 400개 기업의 첫 번째 목록에서 2023년 미국 기후 리더 중 하나로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.  앱터는 2019년과 2021년 사이에 핵심 배출 집약도에서 가장 큰 감소를 달성한 기업 중 산업 부문 1위와 24위를 차지하고 있다. 앱터는 Scope 1과 2의 온실 가스 배출을 달성했다.

원래 Scope 1과 Scope 2 목표를 크게 초과한 후, 앱타는 2030년까지 지구 온난화를 섭씨 1.5도로 유지하기 위한 요건에 맞추기 위해 2023년 3월 초에 과학 기반 목표 이니셔티브(SBTi)에 의해 개정된 Scope 1과 Scope 2 감소 목표를 검증했다. 또한 앱타는 Scope 3 배출물 및 재생 에너지 구매에 대한 SBTi 목표를 검증했다. 또, 환경 보호에 도움이 되는 것 외에도 지속 가능한 기업들이 경쟁 우위를 점할 것이라고 봤다. 

순위를 결정하기 위해 USA 투데이와 스타티스타(Statista)는 2021년 매출이 5천만 달러 이상인 2천개 이상의 미국 소재 기업의 목록으로 시작해 배출량 데이터를 보고한 700개 기업으로 압축했다. 순위에 사용된 고려사항에는 배출 강도, 배출 강도의 연간 감소, 탄소 공개 등급 및 기타 기준이 포함되었다. 방법론에 대한 자세한 내용은 스타티스타의 웹 페이지에서 확인할 수 있다.

Aptar Named One of America’s Climate Leaders by USA Today

 

AptarGroup, Inc. (NYSE: ATR), a global leader in drug delivery, consumer product dispensing and active material science solutions and services, was named one of America’s Climate Leaders 2023 by USA Today on its inaugural list of 400 US companies. Aptar is ranked first in its industry sector and 24th among the companies who achieved the greatest reduction in their core emissions intensity between 2019 and 2021 – that is, Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions in relation to revenue.

After significantly surpassing its original Scope 1 and 2 targets, Aptar validated its revised Scope 1 and Scope 2 reduction target by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) in early March 2023 to align to the requirements to keep global warming at 1.5° Celsius by 2030. Aptar also has validated SBTi targets for Scope 3 emissions and renewable energy purchases. Increasingly, Aptar believes that sustainable companies, in addition to helping safeguard the environment, will also have a competitive advantage.

To determine the rankings, USA Today and Statista began with a list of more than 2,000 US-based companies with revenue of more than $50 million in 2021 and then narrowed it to the 700 companies who reported their emissions data. Considerations used in the rankings included emission intensity, annualized reductions in emission intensity, carbon disclosure rating and other criteria.
