Coca-Cola invests in water recycling plant in Scotland, UK
Coca-Cola European Partners has brought online a new water treatment and reuse system at its manufacturing site in East Kilbride, Scotland, UK.
The new plant, which cost ¡Ì2.3 million ($2.9 million), will enable more efficient water recovery from the site's four manufacturing lines, saving an estimated 9,000 m3 of water a year.
Coca-Cola set a target to become water neutral by 2020, whereby it would use less than a litre of water to produce a litre of soft drink product, and claims that it reached that target by 2015.
The East Kilbride site produces 16 million cases of product a year.
