[캐나다] H2O 이노베이션, 버지니아 WaterHub 프로젝트 위해 1억 갤런 재활용수 강조

H2O 이노베이션(H2O Innovation)는 자사의 물 재사용 프로젝트인 버지니아 워터허브( Virginia WaterHub®)가 1억 갤런에 도달했다.

이는 9개월 전에 시운전한 이래 이 중요한 이정표는 또한 ‘세계 물의 날(3월 22일)’을 둘러싼 인식 캠페인의 일부이다.

H2O 이노베이션의 프레데릭 두 그레(Frederic Dugre)  사장 겸 CEO는 "물은 인간뿐만 아니라 산업 활동에도 점점 더 중요하고 앞으로도 더 중요해질 자원이다. 매년 200만 명 이상의 사망자가 안전하지 않은 물(출처:WHO)에 기인한다"라면서 "그것은 귀중한 자원이며, 그 가격은 종종 알려지지 않거나 불공평하며, 그렇기 때문에 더 잘 이용되어야 한다. 물 재활용은 현대 기술 혁신 중 하나다"라고 강조했다.

Virginia WaterHub® 워터 트리트먼트 프로젝트(water treatment project)는 멤브레인 바이오렉터(membrane bioreactor, MBR)와 역삼투(RO) 기술을 결합한 것이다.

이 처리 시설은 산업 현장에서 하루에 약 50만 갤런의 폐수를 차단하고, 개방형 플랫폼 기술인 'flexMBRTM'을 사용하여 처리한다.

이는 현장 냉각탑 내에서 재사용하기에 적합한 혼합수를 만들기 위한 RO 연마 작업에 이어 수행된다.

H2O 이노베이션의 플래셔 켄트(Fraser Kent) 폐수 프로젝트 담당이사는 "이곳에서 우리는 우리의 고유한 비즈니스 모델에서 나올 수 있는 시너지 효과를 보여주는 좋은 예가 있는데, 각 비즈니스 요소는 우리의 고객들에게 완전하고 부가가치 높은 서비스를 제공하기 위해 다른 사람들을 활용한다" 면서 "이 프로젝트의 시행은 성공적인 치료를 위해 함께 일해야 하는 여러 단위 작업의 복잡성 때문에 특히 어려웠다"라고 말했다.

플래셔 켄트(Fraser Kent) 폐수 프로젝트 담당이사는 또 "우리는 이렇게 훌륭한 물 재사용 참고문헌을 이끌어 낸 그들의 노고에 대해 우리 직원들 모두에게 감사하고 싶다"라면서 "우리는 현재 유사한 다른 프로젝트들을 진행하고 있으며 이 분야에서 상당한 성장을 기대하고 있다"고 덧붙였다.

H2O Innovation Celebrates World Water Day By Highlighting 100 Million Gallons Of Recycled Water For Its Virginia WaterHub Project

H2O Innovation Inc. (“H2O Innovation” or the “Corporation”) is pleased to announce its water reuse project, Virginia WaterHub®, carried out in partnership with Sustainable Water, has reached 100 million gallons of recycled water since its commissioning nine months ago.

This important milestone reached is also part of an awareness campaign surrounding World Water Day.

“Water is a resource that is and will be more and more vital not only to humans, but also to industrial activity. Each year, more than 2 million deaths are attributable to unsafe water (source: WHO). It is a precious resource, the price of which is often unknown or unfair, and that is why it must be used better. Water recycling is one of today’s technological innovations that the Corporation wishes to promote more”, stated Frederic Dugre, President and Chief Executive Officer of H2O Innovation.

The Virginia WaterHub® water treatment project combines membrane bioreactor ("MBR") and reverse osmosis ("RO") technologies.

This treatment facility intercepts approximately 500,000 gallons per day of wastewater from an industrial campus and treats it using the Corporation’s open platform technology, the flexMBRTM.

This is followed by RO polishing to create a blended water suitable for reuse within the onsite cooling towers.

“Here we have a great example of the synergies that can emerge from our unique business model, where each business pillar leverages the others in order to offer a complete and added-value service to our customers.

The implementation of this project was particularly challenging due to the complexity of multiple unit operations having to work together to provide successful treatment. We want to thank all of our staff who were involved for their hard work that led to this excellent water reuse reference.
