[필리핀] 마닐라 워터, 태풍 피해 지역에 식수 제공 MTP 지원
세부 릴로안, 보홀 이나방가 지역에 각 1대씩
약 3천리터 식수 생산·하루 최대 12시간 최적 작동

최근 비사야 산맥, 민다나오 일부, 팔라완을 강타한 태풍 오데트(Odette)로 피해 입은 주민들에게 식수를 제공하기 위해, 마닐라 워터(Manila Water)는 여러 척의 물 탱커(water tankers)로 보완된 2개의 이동식 처리 플랜트(mobile treatment plants, MTP)를 세부(Cebu)와 보홀(Bohol)에 배치했다.

하나는 세부의 릴로안(Liloan)에, 다른 하나는 보홀의 이나방가(Inabanga)에 지원됐다.

이동식 처리 플랜트는 태풍 피해 지역사회에 필요한 깨끗한 물공급을 확대할 것으로 예상된다. 물 탱크는 MTP에서 다양한 바랑가이 및 인근 마을로 물을 가져오는 데 도움이 된다.

마닐라 워터의 이동식 처리 플랜트는 강물, 홍수 물, 심지어 바닷물까지 모든 유형의 원수를 처리하여 음용수로 전환할 수 있는 능력이 있다. 마닐라워터 봉사단원들이 운영하고 있는 이 처리시설은 각각 시간당 약 3천리터의 식수를 생산할 수 있으며 하루 최대 12시간 동안 최적으로 작동할 수 있다.

마닐라 워터는 대피 센터의 식수 공급을 늘리기 위해 이동식 처리 플랜트를 메트로 마닐라 외곽의 재해 피해 지역에도 보내고 있다.

지난 12월 20∼22일, 마닐라 물 재단(Manila Water Foundation)은 5갤런의 핼시앤퓨어(Healthy & Pure) 음용수 500유닛과 위생용품 75케이스를 보냈으며 앞으로 며칠 동안 5갤런의 음용수 2천500유닛과 위생 키트 225케이스를 피해 지역에 보낼 예정이다.

Manila Water sends mobile treatment plants to typhoon-stricken areas in Visayas

and Palawan recently, Manila Water readily deployed two (2) mobile treatment plants (MTP) complemented by several water tankers to Cebu and Bohol. One MTP was sent to Liloan, Cebu and the other will be brought to Inabanga, Bohol. The MTP’s are expected to augment the much-needed supply of clean water to the typhoon-stricken communities. The water tankers will help bring water from the MTP’s to various barangays and nearby towns.

Manila Water’s MTP has the capability of treating and converting any type of raw water -- river water, flood water, even saltwater -- into potable drinking water. The treatment facilities, which are being operated by a crew of volunteer-employees from Manila Water, can each produce about 3,000 liters of drinking water per hour and can operate optimally up to 12 hours a day. Manila Water has been sending its MTP to disaster-stricken areas even outside of Metro Manila to augment potable water supply in evacuation centers. It was deployed to Bantayan Island in Cebu after Typhoon Yolanda hit several provinces in the Visayas in 2013.

Earlier this week, Manila Water Foundation sent 500 units of 5-gallon Healthy & Pure drinking water and 75 cases of hygiene products and will be sending additional 2,500 units of 5-gallon drinking water and 225 cases of hygiene kits to distressed areas in the coming days.

Other towns currently benefitting from the provision of clean water from the MTPs are Compostela and Consolacion in Cebu. Water tankers were also sent to Siargao to bring clean water to affected communities.
