[미국] 아메리칸워터웍스, 물 자선 재단에 4천500만달러 기부

미국 최대의 상하수도 유틸리티 기업 아메리칸 워터 웍스(American Water Works Company, Inc.)는 지난 2010년 회사가 설립한 물 자선 재단에 4천500만 달러를 기부했다고 발표했다고 지난 6일 밝혔다.

아메리칸 워터 웍스의 사설 재단이 교부받은 이번 기부금은 최근 아메리칸 워터스의 홈오너 서비스 그룹(American Water’s Homeowner Services Group)의 매각 수익금의 일부를 넘긴 것이다.

재단은 지역 사회에 기여하는 좋은 이웃이자 시민이 되기 위한 회사의 지속적인 헌신으로서 직원들의 자선 활동을 지원하고, 목표 재난 구호를 제공하며, 깨끗한 물, 보존, 교육 및 지역사회 지속가능성과 관련된 높은 수준의 이니셔티브를 지원하기 위해 기금을 기부할 예정이다.

수잔 하드윅(Susan Hardwick) 아메리칸 워터임시 CEO는 “아메리칸 워터 물 자선 재단은 직원과 함께 하며 기부와 봉사를 통해 지역 사회와 그 너머에 있는 사회에 환원하려는 직원의 노력을 지원한다”고 말하며 “향후 수년 동안 자선 기부가 많아질 수 있도록 재단에 기부 할 수 있어 기쁘게 생각한다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 재단은 창립 이래 직원과 지역 사회에 약 9백만 달러에 이르는 기부를 통해 ESG 경영을 실천하고 있다.

American Water Makes $45 Million Donation to the American Water Charitable Foundation

CAMDEN, N.J. – American Water Works Company, Inc. (NYSE: AWK), the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, today announced that it contributed $45 million to the American Water Charitable Foundation (“Foundation”), a 501(c)(3) private foundation established by American Water in 2010. The contribution, which will significantly add to the Foundation’s existing endowment, was made possible by the proceeds from the recent sale of American Water’s Homeowner Services Group.

“The American Water Charitable Foundation stands alongside our employees and supports their efforts to give back, through donations and volunteer efforts, to the communities we serve and beyond,” said Susan Hardwick, interim chief executive officer, American Water. “We are excited to make this contribution to the Foundation to allow for an increase in charitable giving for many years to come.”

The American Water Charitable Foundation demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to being a good neighbor, citizen, and contributor to the communities where American Water and its employees live, work and operate and beyond. The Foundation supports American Water employees in their own charitable endeavors, provides targeted disaster relief, and contributes funding to support higher-level initiatives related to clean water, conservation, education and community sustainability.  Since its inception, the Foundation has provided nearly $9 million in funding through grants and matching gifts to charitable organizations that are important to our employees and our communities.
