[영국] 유나이티드 유틸리티스, 맨체스터로드 수도관 교체 착수

유나이티드 유틸리티스(United Utilities)가 맨체스터 로드(Manchester Road) 급수본관 교체공사에 착수했다.

유타이티드 유틸리티스는 지난 1월 6일, 베리(Bury)주 주민들에게 상수도를 공급하는 수도관 네트워크를 현대화하는 작업을 1월 10일부터 4월 초까지 진행한다고 밝혔다.

이번 공사로 인해 교통 환경이 일시적으로 변화한다. 긱 레인(Gigg Lane), 레드베일스 로드(Redvales Road), 탄 드라이브(Tarn Drive) 및 세인트 피터스 로드(St Peter's Road)가 맨체스터 로드와 만나는 교차로에 임시 신호등이 설치되며, 긱 레인의 교차로에서 더머스 레인(Dumers Lane) 교차로까지 이어지는 맨체스터 로드의 계속 차선이 약 12∼14주 동안 일시 폐쇄된다.

유타이티드 유틸리티스는 가능한 한 시민들의 불편을 최소화하기 위해 베리주 위원회(Bury Council)와 긴밀히 협력하고 있다.

회사 관계자는 공사가 진행되는 동안 상수도를 일시 중단해야 하는 경우 주민들에게 사전에 즉시 알려 불편을 최소화할 것이라고 밝혔다.

한편, 유나이티드 유틸리티스는 현재 이 지역에 안정적인 물공급을 보장하기 위해 노스 웨스트 전역의 6천 킬로미터가 넘는 수도관을 교체·정비하고 있다.

Water mains upgrade to start on Manchester Road in Bury

United Utilities is warning residents in Bury of disruption to Manchester Road as it works to upgrade one kilometre of water mains along a stretch of the road.

From 10 January until early April, the North West’s water company will be modernising the network of pipes that brings water to homes in Bury to safeguard supplies for decades to come.

As a result of the works there will some temporary traffic management required.  Temporary traffic lights will be installed at the junctions where Gigg Lane, Redvales Road, Tarn Drive and St Peter’s Road meet Manchester Road. There will also be a continuous lane closure on Manchester Road from the junction of Gigg Lane to the junction of Dumers Lane for approximately 12-14 weeks.

Drivers are advised to plan their journeys and find alternative routes where possible. Bus users are advised to check with Transport for Greater Manchester for more information on changes to bus stops.

United Utilities is working closely with Bury Council to ensure disruption is minimised where possible.

Residents will also be contacted by United Utilities if their water supply needs to be turned off whilst the work is being carried out.  This would only be for short periods and residents would be contacted with a date, time and duration before the supply is stopped.
