[미국] 몰레어, 나노버블 발생기로 도밍게즈 해협 악취 해소

미국 캘리포니아주 카슨시(City of Carson)에 위치한 몰레어(Molear)가 나노 버블 발생기로 도밍게즈 해협(Dominguez Channel)에서 발생하는 악취의 근원을 제거했다.

나노버블 기술 회사 몰레어(Moleaer)는 지난 1월 13일 로스앤젤레스 카운티 공공사업부와 협력해 도밍게즈 해협의 수질을 복원하기 위해 협력하고 있다고 밝혔다.

최근 카슨 시(City of Carson) 현장 작업자들로부터 ‘썩은 계란’ 냄새가 난다는 민원이 여럿 보고됐다.

이는 웨스트 카슨(West Carson), 롱 비치(Long Beach), 윌밍턴(Wilmington), 가데나(Gardena) 및 컴튼(Compton) 등에도 영향을 미치고 있다.

몰레어의 특허 받은 나노버블 발생기는 냄새의 주범인 황화수소(H₂S) 가스 생성을 방지하기 위해 채널 내 용존산소 농도를 높이는 데 중요한 역할을 했다.

몰레어는 피게로아(Figueroa) 스트리트에서 223번째 스트리트까지 이어지는 도밍게즈 해협을 따라 14개의 나노버블 발생기를 배치했다.

몰레어의 나노버블 처리 기술은 산소를 소비하고 물의 용존 산소 수준을 높이는 오염물질을 자연적으로 분해한다.

지난 11월 3일 처리에 착수했을 때, 도밍게스 해협의 산소 농도가 너무 낮아 하구의 전반적인 생태계 건강이 우려되는 상황이었으나, 용존산소 수준을 0.2mg/L 이상으로 유지함으로써 박테리아의 성장과 악취의 근본 원인인 황화수소 생성을 방지했다.

처리가 최고조에 달했을 때 나노버블 발생기는 분당 4만1천850갤런 또는 하루 6천만 갤런 이상의 처리율을 보였다.

Moleaer’s proprietary, chemical-free technology helps combat hydrogen sulfide in stormwater channel

January 12, 2022 (Carson, CA) — Moleaer, the leading nanobubble technology company, announced today it has been working with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works to restore water quality in the Dominguez Channel. Its patented nanobubble generators have been instrumental in increasing dissolved oxygen levels at the Channel to eliminate the production of hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S), which was the cause of the “rotten egg” smell reported by those living and working in the City of Carson. The communities of West Carson, Long Beach, Wilmington, Gardena, and Compton were also impacted by the incident at Dominguez Channel.

Moleaer’s proprietary nanobubble treatment naturally degrades contaminants that consume oxygen and enable dissolved oxygen levels in the water to rise. When treatment began on November 3, 2021, oxygen levels in the Dominguez Channel were so low that the overall health of the estuary was under stress. Maintaining a dissolved oxygen level of at least 0.2 mg/L prevents the growth of bacteria and formation of hydrogen sulfide production, which was the root cause of the odor.

Moleaer deployed 14 of its nanobubble generators along the Dominguez Channel from Figueroa Street to 223rd Street. At the height of the treatment, the nanobubble generators were treating 41,850 gallons of water per minute or more than 60 million gallons per day.

The nanobubble generators that were installed at the Dominguez Channel inject air nanobubbles, roughly 100 nanometers in diameter, into the water. Moleaer’s patented technology not only provides hyper-efficient gas transfer to increase dissolved oxygen levels, but also injects trillions of nanobubbles that produce mild oxidants to destroy hydrogen sulfide and other oxygen-consuming compounds to treat the odor and prevent it from returning.
