[미국] 케어소스·엘레베이트 벤쳐, 수질 위해 120워터에 투자

국가 관리 의료 기관인 케어소스(CareSource)는 유틸리티와 주 및 지방 기관이 공중 보건을 보호하는 중요한 물 프로그램을 관리하는 데 도움이 되는 디지털 물 솔루션인 120Water에 100만 달러를 투자한다고 발표했다. 엘레베이트 벤쳐(Elevate Ventures), 알로스 벤쳐(Allos Ventures) 및 기타 기존 투자자의 참여를 포함하는 300만 달러 라운드의 일부인 케어소스의 투자는 케어소스 다양성 및 사회적 영향 펀드를 통해 이루어졌다.

최근 Inc. 5000에 의해 미국에서 가장 빠르게 성장하는 민간 기업 중 하나로 선정된 120워터는 파트너가 LCR(납 및 구리 규칙) 준수를 달성하도록 지원하는 리더로 인정받고 있다. 38개 주에 걸쳐 400명 이상의 고객이 이미 120워터의 디지털 물 플랫폼을 사용하고 있다.

NRDC(National Resources Defense Council)의 2021년 조사에 따르면 인디애나는 일리노이, 오하이오와 함께 미국에서 가장 많은 납 수도관을 보유하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

미국 환경보호청(EPA)에 따르면 미국에는 600만~1천만 개의 납 수도관이 있다.

120워터의 공동 설립자이자 CEO인 메건 글로버(Megan Glover)는 "1월 이후 납 파이프의 재고를 관리하기 위해 협력하고 있는 수도 시스템의 수가 70% 이상 증가했다"면서 “이 투자는 고객의 요구를 충족시키기 위해 수질 전문가를 계속 고용하는 데 사용될 것이다. 또한 R&D에 투자하고 소프트웨어 플랫폼의 기능을 확장하여 우리가 제공하는 유틸리티의 수질 요구 사항을 더욱 지원하는 데 사용될 것이다”라고 말했다.

Partners invest in 120Water to protect public health

 

CareSource, a national managed care organization, announces a $1 million investment in 120Water, a digital water solution that helps utilities and state and local agencies manage critical water programs that protect public health. CareSource’s investment, which is part of a $3 million round that included participation from Elevate Ventures, Allos Ventures and other existing investors, was made through the CareSource Diversity & Social Impact Fund. 

Recently named one of the fastest-growing private companies in America by Inc. 5000, 120Water is recognized as a leader in helping partners achieve Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) compliance. Over 400 customers across 38 states already use 120Water’s Digital Water Platform. 

“CareSource recognizes the significant health consequences of lead contamination in the communities we serve,” said Steve Smitherman, CareSource Indiana market president. “We applaud 120Water’s innovative solutions for reducing these risks and are proud to support their work.” 

A 2021 survey by the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) found Indiana, along with Illinois and Ohio, to have some of the most lead service lines in the nation.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says there are between six million and 10 million lead services lines in the country. 

“Since January, the number of water systems we’re partnering with to inventory lead pipes has grown by more than 70 percent,” said 120Water co-founder and CEO Megan Glover. “This investment will be used to continue to hire water quality professionals to meet the needs of our customers. It will also be used to invest in R&D and expand the functionality of our software platform, further supporting the water quality needs of utilities we serve.”
