[미국] 아메리칸워터 자선 재단, 블루그래스 그린소스에 보조금 10만 달러 수여

미국 최대 상하수도 유틸리티 회사인 아메리칸 워터(American Water)가 설립한 아메리칸워터 자선 재단(American Water Charitable Foundation)은 최근 블루그래스 그린소스(Bluegrass Greensource)에 2022년 물 및 환경 보조금을 수여했다고 발표했다.

케틀린 나쉬(Kathryn Nash) 켄터키 아메리칸워터 사장은 "아메리칸워터는 블루그래스 그린소스와 20여 년 전 설립 이후 다양한 환경 이벤트 및 프로그램에 협력해왔으며, 이번 지원금은 지역사회를 교육하고 참여시키기 위한 그들의 노력에 더욱 도움이 될 것"이라고 말했다.

에이미 소너(Amy Sohner) 블루그래스 그린소스 전무는 "켄터키 아메리칸워터는 지역사회의 리더이며, 우리는 이 프로젝트에 대해 그들과 미국 워터 자선 재단과 함께 우리의 작업을 계속하게 되어 영광이다"라고  "커뮤니티와 물을 연결하는 것은 블루그래스 그린소스의 가치의 핵심이며, 이 프로젝트는 지역 전역의 학생과 성인들이 이러한 연결을 이해하는 데 도움이 될 뿐만 아니라, 우리의 지역 수로에 대한 관심을 끌고 야외 레크리에이션을 장려할 것"이라고 말했다.

물과 환경 보조금은 미국 물 자선 재단의 '공동체 흐름 유지 보조금 프로그램'의 일부로, 물, 사람, 지역사회 세 가지 기둥에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 

10만 달러의 보조금은 교실과 체험 학습 활동을 통해 교사와 학생들을 참여시키는 포괄적인 유역 교육 프로그램을 지원할 것이다. 그 노력은 또한 시민들이 물길을 보호하고 보존하는데 있어 차이를 만들 수 있는 많은 방법을 보여주는 강 축제를 통해 지역사회와 단체들과 연결될 것이다.

캐리 윌리암스(Carrie Williams) 아메리칸워터 자선 재단 회장은 "자선 재단은 켄터키주의 단체들과 협력하여 깨끗한 물, 환경 교육, 물 기반 레크리에이션에 대한 접근 등에 초점을 맞춘 공정하고 접근 가능한 프로젝트와 프로그램을 제공하게 되어 기쁘다다"면서 "물 및 환경 보조금을 위한 기금은 모든 물 한방울이 어떻게 중요한지 배우는 데 지역사회를 참여시키는 영향력이 큰 프로젝트를 만들 것"이라고 말했다.

Kentucky American Water Proudly Recognizes American Water Charitable Foundation 2022 Water and Environment Grantee

Bluegrass Greensource Awarded $100,000

The American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, recently announced that Bluegrass Greensource has been awarded a 2022 Water and Environment Grant.

“We congratulate Bluegrass Greensource on being named a 2022 Water and Environment recipient,” said Kathryn Nash, president of Kentucky American Water. “Our company has partnered with Bluegrass Greensource on a variety of environmental events and programs since its inception more than 20 years ago, and this grant will further assist their efforts to educate and engage communities.”

“Kentucky American Water is a leader in the community, and we are honored to continue our work with them and the American Water Charitable Foundation on this project,” said Amy Sohner, executive director of Bluegrass Greensource. “Connecting communities and water is core to Bluegrass Greensource’s values, and this project will not only help students and adults throughout the region understand this connection, it will also draw attention to our local waterways and encourage outdoor recreation. We are very grateful for their continued support!”

The Water and Environment grant is part of the American Water Charitable Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities.

The $100,000 grant will support a comprehensive watershed education program engaging teachers and students through classroom and experiential learning activities. The effort will also connect with communities and organizations through river festivals that showcase the many ways citizens can make a difference in protecting and preserving waterways.

“The American Water Charitable Foundation is pleased to partner with organizations in Kentucky to provide equitable and accessible projects and programs focused on clean water, environmental education, access to water-based recreation and more,” said Carrie Williams, president, American Water Charitable Foundation. “Funding for the Water and the Environment grant will create high-impact projects that engage communities in learning how every drop counts.”
