노후 된 수도관 교체로 상수도 서비스 신뢰성 강화

뉴저지 아메리칸 워터(New Jersey American Water)는 글로스터 타운쉽(Gloucester Township)에 있는 약 6천 피트(ft)의 노후 된 메인 수도관을 교체할 것이라고 밝혔다. 뉴저지 아메리칸 워터는 1960년대에 설치된 노후 된 6인치(inch) 및 8인치 주철 수도관을 8인치 덕타일 주철관(ductile iron pipe)로 업그레이드할 계획이다.

-오스틴 애비뉴(Austin Avenue)에서 이스트 프론트 스트리트(East Front Street)까지의 메인 스트리트

-오스틴 애비뉴(Austin Avenue)에서 이스트 프론트 스트리트(East Front Street)까지 헌팅턴 애비뉴(Huntington Avenue)

-이스트 프론트(East Front Street)에서 라지 애비뉴(Ridge Avenue)까지 우드랜드 애비뉴(Woodland Avenue)

이 프로젝트에는 수도관을 따라 3개의 소화전과 70개의 유틸리티 소유 급수관(service line) 교체도 포함된다. 또한, 뉴저지 아메리칸 워터는 2031년까지 모든 납 및 아연으로 도금된 급수관을 제거하기 위한 주(州) 전체 이니셔티브의 일환으로 납으로 확인되거나 아연으로 도금된 고객 소유의 급수관도 교체할 예정이다.

이번 120만 달러의 투자는 상수도 서비스의 신뢰성을 지속적으로 향상시키고 이 지역사회의 가정 소비 및 화재 방지를 위한 물 흐름을 증가시킬 것이다. 이 개선은 뉴저지 아메리칸 워터가 주 전역의 100개 이상의 지역사회에서 수명이 다한 물인프라의 재생을 가속화하기 위한 수백만 달러 이니셔티브의 일부이다.

뉴저지 아메리칸 워터 지역의 자격을 갖춘 현지 계약업체인 파이오니어 파이프 컨트랙터스 주식회사(Pioneer Pipe Contractors, Inc.)는 지난 8월 26일부터 작업을 시작했으며, 이 작업은 날씨가 허락하는 한 약 3개월 이내에 완료될 것으로 예상된다. 근무시간은 월요일부터 금요일까지, 오전 7시부터 오후 4시까지이다. 프로젝트 일정을 유지하기 위해 필요한 경우가 아니면 이 시간 외의 작업은 예상되지 않는다. 최종 거리 복원은 2023년 여름에 완료된다.

New Jersey American Water Invests $1.2 million in Gloucester Township Infrastructure

New Jersey American Water will replace approximately 6,000 feet of aging water main in Gloucester Township starting today. The company will upgrade the aging 6- and 8-inch cast-iron water lines that were installed in the 1960s with new 8-inch ductile iron main along the following streets:

Main Street from Austin Avenue to East Front Street

Huntington Avenue from Austin Avenue to East Front Street

Woodland Avenue from East Front Street to Ridge Avenue

The project also includes replacing three fire hydrants and 70 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route. Additionally, New Jersey American Water will replace any customer-owned service line that has been identified as lead or galvanized as part of a statewide initiative to remove all lead and galvanized service lines by 2031.

This $1.2 million investment will continue to advance water service reliability and increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection in this community. This improvement is part of New Jersey American Water’s multimillion-dollar initiative to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities across the state.  

New Jersey American Water’s local, qualified contractor, Pioneer Pipe Contractors, Inc. began work today and expects to be completed within approximately three months, weather permitting. Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work outside of these hours is not expected unless required to maintain project schedule. Final street restorations will be completed in summer of 2023.

Project timelines are subject to change due to a variety of factors including weather and availability of supplies. New Jersey American Water encourages customers to sign up for alerts through their MyWater account and follow the company on Facebook and Twitter to receive project updates.

For the public’s and workers’ safety, traffic restrictions and/or alternating traffic patterns are likely to occur during work hours. All emergency vehicles and local traffic will be allowed access during construction. New Jersey American Water values the safety of its workers and advises drivers and pedestrians to take caution in the vicinity of work sites.
