[사우디] ACWA 파워와 중국 실크로드펀드, 시르다리야 설비에 대한 주식매수협약 체결

2024년 완공 시 우즈베키스탄 전력 수요 15%, 설치 전력 용량 8% 담당 예상

 

 

사우디 대표 개발·투자자·운영사인 ACWA 파워와 중국 실크로드펀드(China’s Silk Road Fund)가 우즈베키스탄에 있는 1.5GW 시르다리야 복합사이클가스터빈(Sirdarya combined cycle gas turbine, CCGT) 설비에 대한 주식매수협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 파트너십은 ACWA 파워 회장인 모하마드 아부나얀(Mohammad Abunayyan)과 실크로드 펀드의 주준(ZU Jun) 회장이 참석한 가상 서명식을 통해 공식화됐다.

협약 조건에 따르면 ACWA파워는 이 시설의 지분 51%를 보유하면서 프로젝트의 최대 주주가 될 것이며, 일대일로 구상을 이행하는 중국의 국가투자기구인 실크로드 펀드는 이제 스르다리야 시설의 49%를 소유하게 된다. 주식 매입 계약은 2022년 4분기까지 종료될 것으로 예상된다.

우즈베키스탄의 JSC National Grid는 25년 동안 이 프로젝트의 유일한 인수자로서 역할을 할 것이다. 2024년 초 완공되면 이 프로젝트는 국가 전체 전력 용량의 8%를 차지하며, 산업·가정 전반에 걸쳐 전국 전력 수요의 15%를 충족할 것이다.

시르다리야 시설은 우즈베키스탄과 중앙아시아에서 ACWA 파워 앤드 실크로드 펀드가 처음으로 맺은 전략적 파트너십이다. 이 외에도 ACWA파워는 우즈베키스탄에서 풍력에너지를 중심으로 3개의 추가 프로젝트를 진행하고 있으며, 실크로드 펀드는 공화국의 문화, 관광, 석유, 가스 분야에 투자하고 있다.

주준 실크로드 펀드의 회장은 "시르다리야 프로젝트는 중국, 사우디아라비아, 우즈베키스탄의 일대일로 협력의 상징이다. 실크로드 펀드는 ACWA 파워와 제휴하여 지역 주민들에게 더 효율적인 방식으로 더 깨끗한 전력을 제공할 것이다"라고 전했다.

우즈베키스탄 남부 시린에 위치한 이 프로젝트는 우즈베키스탄 공화국이 거주 지역에 비용 효율적이고 에너지 효율적인 전력 솔루션을 제공할 수 있도록 지원하고 연간 200만 톤의 탄소 배출량을 대체할 것이다.

ACWA POWER ANNOUNCES CHINA’S SILK ROAD FUND AS CO-INVESTOR IN US$1 BILLION 1.5 GW SIRDARYA PROJECT IN UZBEKISTAN

 

ACWA Power, a leading Saudi developer, investor, and operator of power generation, water desalination and green hydrogen plants worldwide, and China’s Silk Road Fund signed a share purchase agreement for the 1.5 GW Sirdarya combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) facility in Uzbekistan.

The partnership was formalised in a virtual signing ceremony attended by Mohammad Abunayyan, ACWA Power Chairman and ZHU Jun, Chairwoman of Silk Road Fund.

By the terms of the agreement, ACWA Power will continue to be the majority shareholder in the project, holding 51% stake in the facility. The Silk Road Fund, which is China’s sovereign investment body that implements the Belt and Road Initiative, will now own 49% of the Sirdarya facility. The share purchase agreement is expected to close by Q4 2022.

Uzbekistan’s JSC National Grid will function as the sole off taker of the project for a period of 25 years. Once completed in early 2024, the project accounts for 8% of the country’s total power capacity and meet 15% of the country’s electricity demand across industry and households.

The Sirdarya facility is ACWA Power and Silk Road Fund’s first strategic partnership in Uzbekistan and Central Asia. On top of such, ACWA Power has three additional projects in Uzbekistan, chiefly in wind energy, whereas Silk Road Fund has invested in the Republic’s culture, tourism, oil and gas sectors.

The Sirdarya project symbolizes the cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative among China, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan. Silk Road Fund will partner with ACWA Power to bring cleaner power in a more efficient way to local people

Located in Shirin, southern Uzbekistan, the project will support the Republic of Uzbekistan in providing cost-effective and energy efficient power solutions for the residing communities and displace 2 million tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
