물환경연맹(WEF)은 34개 물 유틸리티의 미래 지향적인 이니셔티브를 파트너십과 지역 사회 참여, 유역 관리 및 물, 에너지 및 영양소와 같은 자원의 회수를 재조명함에 따라 미래의 유틸리티로 인정하고 있다.

미래의 유틸리티 인정 프로그램은 전통적인 하·폐수 처리 시스템에서 자원 회수 센터로 변모하고 그들이 서비스하는 커뮤니티의 전반적인 지속 가능성과 회복력에서 선도자로 변모한 물 유틸리티의 성과를 축하하며, 물 유틸리티들에게는 10월 11일 뉴올리언스에 개최되는 WEFTEC에서 표창이 수여될 것이다.

미래의 유틸리티는 미국 환경보호청(EPA)의 의견을 받아 WEF, 전미청정수기구협회(NACWA), 물연구재단(WRF), 물재이용협회(Water Reuse Association), 미국 물동맹(U.S. Water Alliance)의 파트너십 프로그램이다.

34개 물 유틸리티는 다음과 같다.

Water Utilities Recognized for Innovation in Operations and Communities

The forward-thinking initiatives of 34 water utilities are being recognized by the Water Environment Federation as Utilities of the Future Today as they reimagine partnerships and community engagement, watershed stewardship, and recovery of resources such as water, energy, and nutrients.

The forward-thinking initiatives of 34 water utilities are being recognized by the Water Environment Federation as Utilities of the Future Today as they reimagine partnerships and community engagement, watershed stewardship, and recovery of resources such as water, energy, and nutrients.

The Utility of the Future Today recognition program celebrates the achievements of water utilities that transform from a traditional wastewater treatment system to a resource recovery center and leader in the overall sustainability and resilience of the communities they serve. The utilities will be honored during a ceremony on October 11 at WEFTEC in New Orleans.

Utility of the Future Today is a partnership program of WEF, the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), The Water Research Foundation (WRF), the WateReuse Association, and the U.S. Water Alliance, with input from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

These utilities are being recognized for the first time:

City of Farmington Wastewater Treatment Plant - Farmington, Utah

City of Memphis Stiles Wastewater Treatment Facility – Memphis, Tenn.

City of Surprise – Surprise, Arix.

Kishwaukee Water Reclamation District – DeKalb, Ill.

Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission – Springfield, Ore.

North Hudson Sewerage Authority – Hoboken, N.J.

Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission - Newark, N.J.

Philadelphia Water Department – Philadelphia, Pa.

San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District - San Bernardino, Calif.

These utilities are being recognized for a second year for a new area of performance:

Alexandria Renew Enterprises (AlexRenew) – Alexandria, Va.

Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department – Tucson, Ariz.

City of Westminster Water Reclamation Facility – Reisterstown, Md.

Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (Central San) – Martinez, Calif.

Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) – Pittsburgh, Pa.

City of Zeeland Clean Water Plant – Zeeland, Mich.

Town of Cary Utilities – Cary, N.C.

Miami-Dade County Water & Sewer Department – Miami, Fla.

King County, Wastewater Treatment Division – Seattle, Wash.
