[카타르] 이드리카, 카타르서 ‘그린 어워드’ 수상

알코르시 두 공원에 스마트 그린 솔루션인 ‘스마트 관개 시범 프로그램’ 운영

카타르 공공사업청인 아쉬갈(Ashghal)은 최근 그린 어워드 갈라(Green Awards gala)를 개최했는데, 이 곳에서 이드리카 카타르(Guas de Valencia WLL)가 지속가능성 분야에서 이룬 업적으로 1위를 차지했다.

지난 10월 3일, 이드리카 카타르(Guas de Valencia WLL)가 알코르 시의 두 공원에서 고아구아 스마트 그린(GoAigua Smart Green) 솔루션을 구현한 ‘스마트 관개 시범 프로그램(smart irrigation pilot program)’에 힘입어 그린 어워즈(Green Awards)의 녹색 디자인(Green Design) 부문에서 1위를 차지했다.

아쉬갈(Ashghal)은 환경 및 지속가능성 정책뿐만 아니라 ‘카타르 국가 비전 2030(Qatar National Vision 2030)’에 따라 지속가능한 개발 이니셔티브로 간주되는 프로젝트에서 이드리카가 수행한 노고를 인정했다.

이드리카 카타르(Idrica Qatar)의 총책임자인 엔리케 J. 페르난데스(Enrique J. Fernandez)는 “이는 우리가 효율성을 높이기 위해 수년 동안 노력한 것을 인정하는 환상적인 방법이며 우리가 계속할 수 있는 인센티브이다”라면서 “물 순환 분야의 O&M 전문가들의 글로벌 비전을 바탕으로 스마트하고 지속 가능한 솔루션을 선도한다”고 말했다.

이번에 수상한 이 프로젝트는 고급 알고리즘(advanced algorithm)과 기계학습(machine learning)을 사용하여 처리된 물과 에너지 소비를 최적화하는 ‘자율 스마트 관개 시스템(autonomous smart irrigation system)’을 중심으로 진행된다.

이 시스템은 환경 지속가능성을 높이고 운영비용과 화석연료 사용을 줄이며, 정보 격차를 없애고 지속가능한 도시개발을 촉진하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있다.

TSE 연결 고객(TSE Connection Customer) - 지능형 관개(Intelligent Inservation)으로 알려진 이 프로젝트는 알 코르(Al Khor)의 알 타와술(Al Tawasul)과 MME 프라이빗 가든 공원(MME Private Garden park)에 스마트 관개 플랫폼(smart irrigation platform)을 배치하는 데 초점을 맞췄으며, 이러한 조경 지역에서 사용되는 물의 양을 줄이기 위해 설계되었다.

플랫폼은 모든 관련 데이터를 통합하여 최적의 관개 일정을 만들고 자동화하며 의사결정 지원 시스템을 구현하는 관개 인프라 종합 모니터링 및 스마트 관리 허브를 제공한다.

이드리카(Idrica)의 중동 부사장인 세베리노 라모스(Severino Ramos)는 “이 프로젝트는 상당한 환경적 이익, 비용 절감, 혁신 및 기술을 가져오는데, 이는 정확히 이 프로젝트가 경제, 기술 및 사회를 기반으로 하는 초석이다”라고 말했다.

고아구아 스마트 그린(GoAigua Smart Green) 솔루션이 시행된 공원의 절수율은 관개 종류에 따라 21∼27%까지 다양하다. 이에 따라 관개망의 수력 효율은 10% 향상되었으며, 모터의 에너지 소비량은 20∼70% 감소했으며, 이는 물 사용량을 줄이고 주파수 변환기를 장착한 펌핑 시스템을 설치한 덕분이다.

그린 어워드(Green Awards)

카타르 공공사업청인 아쉬갈(Ashghal)가 주관한 그린어워드(Green Awards)는 건설현장에서 시공사의 환경 및 지속가능 경영을 촉진하고 평가하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이와 같이, 이 상은 △녹색 디자인(Green Design) △녹색 프로젝트(Green Project) △폐기물 관리 우수성(Waste Management Excellence) △건축 자재 재활용 우수성( Building Material Recycling Excellence) △에너지 효율 우수성 ; 탄소 발자국 감소(Energy Efficiency Excellence ; Carbon Footprint Reduction) 등 5개 부문이 있다.

그린 어워드(Green Awards)는 2018년 아쉬갈(Ashghal)의 품질 및 안전부서(QSD)와 도로 프로젝트 부서(RD)에 의해 시작되었으며, 건설에서 지속 가능한 관행에 대한 인식을 높이고 영향을 근절하거나 줄이는 데 도움을 주기 위해 고안된 독특한 이니셔티브이다.

올해에는 전 세계에서 총 43개의 회사가 이 행사에 참가했는데, 이 상들이 국제 무대에서 얻고 있는 중요성을 고려할 때 매년 새로운 기록을 경신하는 숫자다.

The GoAigua smart irrigation solution wins “Green Award” for its work in the field of sustainability

 

Ashghal, the Qatar Public Works Authority, recently held its Green Awards gala, where Idrica Qatar (Aguas de Valencia WLL) won first prize for its work in the field of sustainability.

On October 3, Idrica Qatar (Aguas de Valencia WLL) was awarded first prize in the Green Awards’ Green Design category, thanks to the smart irrigation pilot program in which the GoAigua Smart Green solution was implemented in two parks in the city of Al Khor. 

Ashghal thus acknowledged the hard work carried out by the company in a project regarded as a Sustainable Development initiative, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, as well as with environmental and sustainability policies.

Enrique J. Fernandez, General Manager of Idrica Qatar, was delighted to receive the award, saying “this is a fantastic way to recognize the many years of hard work we have put in to becoming more efficient, and is an incentive for us to continue to lead the way in smart and sustainable solutions, based on the global vision of O&M experts in the water cycle”.

The award-winning project revolves around an autonomous smart irrigation system that optimizes the use of treated water and energy consumption thanks to the use of advanced algorithms and machine learning. 

The system focuses on increasing environmental sustainability, reducing operating costs and the use of fossil fuels, doing away with the digital divide and promoting sustainable urban development.

Results

The project, known as TSE Connection Customer - Intelligent Irrigation, focused on the deployment of a smart irrigation platform in the Al Tawasul and MME Private Garden parks in Al Khor, designed to reduce the volume of water used in these landscaped areas. 

The platform provides a comprehensive monitoring and smart management hub for irrigation infrastructures which integrates all the relevant data to create the best irrigation schedule, automate it and implement a decision support system.

In the opinion of Severino Ramos, VP Middle East, “the project brings substantial environmental benefits, cost savings, innovation and technology, which are precisely the cornerstones the project is based on i.e., economy, technology and society”.

Water savings in the parks where the award-winning solution has been implemented range from 21% to 27%, depending on the type of irrigation. In turn, the irrigation network’s hydraulic efficiency has been improved by 10%, whilst the motors’ energy consumption has dropped by between 20% and 70%, thanks to the use of less water and the installation of pumping systems equipped with frequency converters.

Green Awards

The Green Awards aim precisely to promote and appraise contractors’ environmental and sustainability management at working construction sites. As such, the awards have five categories - Green Design, Green Project, Waste Management Excellence, Building Material Recycling Excellence, and Energy Efficiency Excellence (Carbon Footprint Reduction).

The Green Awards were launched in 2018 by Ashghal’s Quality and Safety Department (QSD) and Road Projects Department (RPD), and are a unique initiative designed to raise awareness of sustainable practices in construction and help eradicate or reduce their impact.

This year, a total of 43 companies participated in the event, a number that marks a new record every year given the importance that these awards are gaining on the international stage.
