[스페인] 테다구아, 담수화시설 관리 최적화 위한 ‘디지털 트윈’ 개발 착수

최근 5년간 물 분야, AI 관련 프로젝트서 데이터 처리 매우 중요해짐 따라

스페인의 경제·디지털변환부(the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation) 산하 공공기업인 Red.es은 스페인의 글로벌 수처리기업인 테다구아(Tedagua)에게 담수화 플랜트의 운영과 유지보수를 최적화할 수 있는 자체 디지털 트윈(digital twin)을 개발하기 위해 70만 유로(약 9억6천만 원)의 지원을 받는다.

Red.es는 스페인에서 디지털 발전을 촉진하기 위해 일하는 공공기업으로, 테다구아가 개발할 담수화 플랜트의 운영과 유지보수를 위한 최적화 프로젝트는 주로 에너지 소비 감소와 예측 유지보수를 위한 작업 시뮬레이션이라는 두 가지 매개변수에 초점을 맞추고 있다.

이 프로젝트는 3단계로 나누어 진행된다. 첫 번째 단계는 운영 작업 중에 모든 관련 데이터를 수집하고 구성하는 것이다. 

두 번째는 이전에 수집된 데이터에 의해 공급되는 일련의 기계 학습 알고리즘(machine learning algorithms)을 생성하는 것이다. 

마지막으로 3단계는 이러한 알고리즘은 에너지 소비와 물 생산의 행동을 최적화할 뿐만 아니라 다른 시나리오에 직면하여 예측 시뮬레이션을 생성하는 것을 목표로 디지털 모델을 통해 시뮬레이션할 수 있다.

이 디지털 트윈(digital twin)은 주로 △비용 최적화 △시각 지능을 적용한 정보 접근 △사이버 보안 강화 등 3가지 측면에서 회사와 고객에게 차별화된 부가가치를 제공한다.

한편, 이 프로젝트는 소비와 프로세스를 최적화하는 데 도움이 될 뿐만 아니라, 프로젝트의 필요에 따라 요구사항과 솔루션이 시간이 지남에 따라 진화하는 반복적이고 점진적인 개발에 기반한 새로운 민첩한 방법론을 구현한다.

데이터 처리는 지난 5년 동안 물 분야에서 그렇게 중요한 역할을 한 적이 없다. 인프라 관리 및 건설과 관련된 분야에 신기술이 스며들면서, 특히 인공지능(artificial intelligence ; AI)과 관련된 프로젝트에서 작업 방법론의 변화에 병행하여 작업할 필요가 있게 되었다.

AI와 같은 기술을 적용하려면 적절한 데이터 처리 전략을 개발해야 한다. 이러한 개념들은 프로젝트에 관련된 사람들이 다른 방식으로 작업할 것을 요구하며, 향후 몇 년 동안 테다구아(Tedagua)에게 차별화된 가치를 제공한다.

Tedagua will develop a digital twin to optimize the management of desalination plants in their O&M contracts

This digital twin will provide differential added value for the company and our clients, mainly in three aspects: cost optimization, access to information by applying visual intelligence, and increased cybersecurity.

Data processing has become so important in the water sector in the last five years, especially in projects related to artificial intelligence, that it requires the development of an appropriate data processing strategy.

The public entity Red.es, attached to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, has granted Tedagua a grant of 700,000 euros to develop its own digital twin that allows optimizing the operation and maintenance of desalination plants. 

This optimization is mainly focused on two parameters: the reduction of energy consumption and the simulation of actions for predictive maintenance.

The project will be carried out in three phases. A first phase where all the relevant data will be collected and structured during the operation work. 

Second, a series of machine learning algorithms will be created, fed by the previously collected data. 

Lastly, these algorithms will allow the behavior of energy consumption and water production to be simulated by means of a digital model with the aim of optimizing them, as well as generating predictive simulations in the face of different scenarios.

This digital twin will provide differential added value for the company and our clients, mainly in three aspects: cost optimization, access to information by applying visual intelligence, and increased cybersecurity.

On the other hand, this project will not only help to optimize consumption and processes, but will also implement a new agile methodology based on iterative and incremental development, where the requirements and solutions evolve over time according to the needs of the project.

Data processing has never acquired such importance in the water sector as in the last five years. As new technologies have permeated sectors associated with infrastructure management and construction, it has become necessary to work in parallel on a change in work methodology, especially in projects related to artificial intelligence.

The application of technologies such as artificial intelligence requires developing an appropriate data processing strategy. These concepts require the people involved in the project to work in a different way and will provide a differential value to Tedagua in the coming years.
