[미국] ASTM 인터네셔널, 빗물 테스트 위한 침전물 국제 표준 개발

ASTM 인터네셔널(ASTM International)의 빗물 관리 대책 위원회(E64)는 빗물 처리 장치의 실험실 성능 테스트에 사용되는 침적물의 특성에 대한 새로운 표준을 개발했다.

곧 E3317로 발표될 새로운 표준은 이러한 장치의 테스트에 사용되는 실리카 기반 침적물의 광물학, 비중 및 입자 크기 분포(PSD)를 설명한다. ASTM 인터네셔널의 회원인 제이 홀츠(Jay Holtz)에 따르면 성능 테스트 중에 표준 침적물을 사용하면 일관되고 비교 가능한 결과를 얻을 수 있다.

홀츠는 "빗물 처리 장치에 대한 표준화된 성능 결과를 통해 제조업체는 기술 개선 사항을 보다 정확하게 평가할 수 있으며, 규제 기관은 성능 기준을 가장 잘 충족하는 시스템을 결정할 수 있어, 궁극적으로 더 깨끗한 빗물 유출을 제공하는 데 도움이 될 것이다"라고 말했다.

이러한 노력은 깨끗한 물과 위생에 관한 UN 지속가능한 개발 목표 #6과 직접적인 관련이 있다.

New ASTM International Standard Covers Sediment for Stormwater Testing

ASTM International’s stormwater control measures committee (E64) has developed a new standard on characteristics of sediments used in laboratory performance testing of stormwater treatment devices.

The new standard, soon to be published as E3317, describes the minerology, specific gravity, and particle size distributions (PSDs) of silica-based sediments used in the testing of these devices. According to ASTM International member Jay Holtz, using a standard sediment during performance testing helps provide consistent and comparable results.

“Standardized performance results for stormwater treatment devices will allow manufacturers to more accurately assess improvements to technologies, allow regulatory bodies to determine which systems best meet their performance criteria, and ultimately will help provide cleaner stormwater runoff,” says Holtz.

This effort directly relates to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #6 on clean water and sanitation.
