[영국] 서번 트렌트, 무료 물효율 검사 통해 지역 기업 물절약 지원

서번 트렌트(Severn Trent)는 지역 기업의 누수를 막기 위해 무료 물 효율 검사(free water-efficiency audits)를 제공하고 있다고 밝혔다.

이 이니셔티브는 서번 트렌트의 그린 리커버리 프로그램의 일환으로, 물시설이 효율적으로 작동하고 있는지 확인할 뿐만 아니라 개선이나 수리가 필요한 경우 내부 누수를 무료로 수리할 수 있다.

서번 트렌트는 일반적으로 누수가 되는 화장실이나 수도꼭지에서 물이 떨어지는 것은 연간 300파운드의 비용이 들 수 있기 때문에 지역 사업체들이 돈을 절약할 수 있도록 지원하는 동시에 물을 절약하는 데에도 도움이 되기를 원한다고 말한다.

조시 베이시드(Josie Veissid) 그린 리커버리 프로젝트 매니저는 "서번 트렌트는 많은 기업들이 불확실성에 직면하고 있고 물 시설을 업그레이드하는 것이 최우선 순위에 있지 않을 수 있다는 것을 잘 알고 있습니다. 그래서 우리가 개입하여 그들을 위해 모든 것을 무료로 하고 있다"면서 "당사의 전문가들이 물 시설에 대한 '건강'을 완벽하게 점검할 수 있을 것이며, 비용이 낭비되지 않도록 하고, 비즈니스가 최대한 효율적으로 운영되고 물샐틈없이 운영되고 있는지 확인할 수 있을 것"이라고 말했다.

서번 트렌트는 소변기가 물을 사용하고 비용이 많이 들기 때문에 소변기를 통해 손실을 보는 경우가 많으며, 센서를 설치하면 기업 규모에 따라 최대 3천 파운드의 비용을 절감할 수 있다고 말합니다.

또한 새는 화장실과 같은 것을 고치면 연간 400리터의 물을 절약할 수 있다고 하는데, 이는 약 5개의 욕조가 가득 찬 수준으로, 이는 기업들이 지불할 돈이지만 사용하지는 않을 것이다.

Severn Trent is helping local businesses across the region save money

Businesses based across the region are being offered free water-efficiency audits, to help make sure their water facilities, such as taps and loos, are up to date and not leaking.

The initiative is part of Severn Trent’s Green Recovery programme, where it’s reaching out to businesses where it will not only check its facilities are working efficiently, but any upgrades or repairs needed, the company will fix internal leaks free of charge.

The company say a typical leaky loo or dripping tap could cost a business up to £300 a year, so wants to support local businesses to save money, while also helping to save water.

Josie Veissid, Green Recovery Project Manager at Severn Trent said: “We know that times are still challenging for customers, and for business owners, that’s no different.

“We’re well aware that many businesses are facing uncertainty and upgrading their water facilities may not be on the top of their list of priorities, which is why we’re stepping in and doing it for them, all free of charge.

“Our experts will be able to do a full ‘health’ check of the water facilities, and really make sure money’s not being wasted, and that your business is running as efficiently as possible and water tight.”

Severn Trent say businesses often lose money through urinals, as they often flush regardless of use, using water and costing money, and by installing sensors, savings of  up to £3,000 could be made depending on business size.

It also says fixing something like a leaky loo could save up to 400 litres of water a year – which is around 700 pints of water or five full bathtubs, which would be money businesses would pay for, but not be using.

“This project really is offering businesses a brilliant opportunity, as not only are we offering to do the checks and upgrades for free,” adds Josie. “We genuinely all have a really important role to play when it comes to saving water, and now we’re helping businesses to do their part to. Whether it’s from a sustainability view, or looking to save money, businesses will really benefit, so it’s a great opportunity to get involved.”
