[스웨덴] 알파 라발, 과학기반목표 이니셔티브 가입

열교환, 원심분리, 유체 이송 및 처리 분야에서 세계적인 선두주자인 알파 라발(Alfa Laval)은 과학기반목표 이니셔티브(Science Based Targets initiative, SBTi)의 가입 승인으로 기후과학을 기반으로 배출량 감축 목표를 설정해 탄소중립으로의 전환을 주도하는 전 세계 4천 개 이상의 기업 중 하나가 되었다고 밝혔다.

과학기반목표 이니셔티브는 기업이 최신 기후 과학에 따라 야심찬 배출 감소 목표를 설정할 수 있도록 하는 글로벌 기구로, 2030년 이전에 배출량을 절반으로 줄이고 2050년 이전에 순 제로 배출량을 달성하기 위해 전 세계 기업을 가속화하는 데 중점을 두고 있다. 알파 라발은 과학 기반 목표 설정에서 모범 사례를 홍보하고 연간 기준으로 탄소 중립 목표를 향한 진전을 검증할 것이다.

알파 라발은 2030년까지 탄소 중립을 유지하고 2050년까지 과학 기반 순제로 목표를 달성하겠다고 약속했다. 이러한 장단기 배출량 감축 목표는 SBTi에 의해 검증되었다. 알파 라발은 따라서 기후 작용이 최신 과학에 부합하도록 보장할 수 있다. 알파 라발은 가치사슬 전반에 걸쳐 자체 이산화탄소 배출량을 줄임으로써 파리협정에 정의된 1.5도 목표를 달성하는 데 기여할 계획이다.

Alfa Laval has been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative

With the approval by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Alfa Laval is now one of more than 4,000 companies worldwide leading the zero-carbon transformation by setting emissions reduction targets grounded in climate science. The initiative promotes best practice in science-based target setting and they will validate Alfa Laval’s progress towards its carbon neutral targets on a yearly basis.

Alfa Laval has committed to be carbon neutral by 2030 and to reach science-based net-zero target by 2050. These near- and long-term emissions reduction targets have now been verified by the SBTi. Alfa Laval can thereby ensure its climate action is in line with the latest science. By reducing its own CO2 emissions throughout the value chain Alfa Laval contributes to meeting the 1.5-degree target defined in the Paris Agreement.
