[미국] 크롤리, 두 번째 연례 지속가능성 보고서 발간

환경 전략에 대한 진전…사항과 직원에 대한 지속적인 노력 상세히 소개

미국 플로리다 잭슨빌에 있는 글로벌 선박 물류 서비스 회사인 크롤리(crowley)가 2022년 지속가능성 목표에 대한 진전 상황을 자세히 설명하고 2023년 이후의 지속적인 노력을 예고하는 두 번째 연례 지속가능성 보고서를 6월 15일 발표했다. 

이 보고서는 크롤리가 탈탄소화 전략의 발전, 다양성, 형평성 및 포용성(DE&I) 목표의 진화, 비즈니스 성장 및 우선순위 수립 등 비즈니스 전반에 걸쳐 지속가능성의 통합을 가속화한 방법을 보여준다.

회장 겸 CEO인 톰 크롤리(Tom Crowley)는 “우리는 첫 번째 보고서에서 제시한 목표 중 일부를 진전시킬 수 있었고 심지어 초과 달성할 수도 있었다. 올해는 강력한 기업 문화를 지속적으로 구축하기 위해 피드백에 귀를 기울이고 조치를 취한 직원들에 관한 해였다. 불과 1년 만에 이룬 진전은 비즈니스, 고객 및 기타 파트너에게 이러한 문제가 얼마나 중요한지를 보여주는 직원들의 헌신과 비전을 말해준다”라고 말했다.

2022 지속가능성 보고서의 주요 내용은 다음과 같다.

첫째, 2050년까지 순배출량 제로를 달성한다는 장기 목표를 향한 단기 배출량 감축 목표와 초기 결과를 발표했다.

둘째,  여성, 성소수자, 흑인 직원을 위한 대표성 전략 및 목표를 포함한 공식화된 DE&I 계획을 수립했다.

셋째, 해상 풍력 개발을 지원하는 새로운 사업부인 크롤리 윈드 서비스를 설립했습니다. 크롤리는 이미 매사추세츠주 세일럼과 캘리포니아주 훔볼트 베이에서 해상 풍력 발전 계획을 세우고 있으며, 풍력 산업을 위한 서비스 운영 선박을 건조하고 있다.

넷째, 잭스포트 터미널에 전기를 공급고 배기가스를 줄이기 위해 1천460만 달러의 보조금을 받았다. 이는 부분적으로 새로운 무공해 및 저공해 기술을 통합하여 성능을 최적화하고 효율성을 높이며 항만 인프라의 기후 영향을 줄이는 방법을 보여주는 '미래의 항만'에 대한 크롤리의 비전에 기여하고 있다.

다섯째, 중소기업 공급업체에 대한 조달 지출의 40%를 달성하여 2030년 목표를 초과 달성했다.

여섯째, 다양한 NGO, 산업 그룹 및 기업과 협력하여 미국 및 중미 지역의 지속 가능성 전략을 지원합니다. 예를 들어, 크롤리는 에코바디스(EcoVadis)와 파트너십을 맺고 지속 가능한 개발을 지원하기 위해 가치 사슬 전반에 걸쳐 공급업체의 지속 가능성 관행을 평가하고 있다.

크롤리의 지속 가능성 담당 부사장인 메건 앳킨슨(Meaghan Atkinson)은 “2022년을 되돌아보면, 우리는 직원과 우리가 봉사하는 지역사회에 영향을 미치기 위해 우리가 성취한 것을 자랑스럽게 생각하며 앞으로 해야 할 일이 더 많다는 것을 알고 있다. 앞으로 우리가 나아갈 길은 해양 산업의 탈탄소화를 선도하는 데 도움이 되는 혁신적인 서비스와 솔루션을 개발하는 동시에 일상적인 업무에 지속가능성을 내재화하는 것이다”라고 말했다.

Crowley’s Second Annual Sustainability Report Details Progress on Environmental Strategy and Continued Commitment to Employees

Crowley has released its second annual sustainability report today, which details progress toward its sustainability goals in 2022 and previews continued efforts for 2023 and beyond. 

The report demonstrates how Crowley has accelerated the integration of sustainability throughout its business, which includes advancing its decarbonization strategy, evolving Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) goals and establishing new and enhanced business growth and priorities, among other accomplishments.

“We have been able to advance, and even exceed, some of the goals laid out in our inaugural report,” said Tom Crowley, chairman and CEO. “This year was about our people, listening to feedback and taking action to continue to build a strong company culture. The progress we made in just one year speaks to our employees’ dedication and vision, which aligns with the importance of these issues to our business, customers and other partners.”

Highlights from the 2022 Sustainability Report include:

- Publication of short-term emissions reductions goals and initial results toward its long-term goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

- Formalized DE&I plan, including representation strategy and goals for women, LGBTQ+ and Black employees.

- Established Crowley Wind Services, a new business unit that supports offshore wind development. Crowley already has plans for offshore wind development in Salem, Massachusetts, and Humboldt Bay, California, and is building a service operations vessel for the wind industry.

- Received a $14.6 million grant to electrify its terminal at JAXPORT and reduce emissions. This, in part, contributes to Crowley’s vision for a “Port of the Future” that illustrates how new zero- and low-emission technologies could be integrated to optimize performance, enhance efficiency and reduce climate impact of port infrastructure.

- Achieved 40% of procurement spend on small business suppliers, surpassing its 2030 goal.

Partnered with various NGOs, industry groups and companies to support its sustainability strategy in the U.S. and Central America. For example, Crowley has partnered with EcoVadis to assess supplier sustainability practices across its value chain to support sustainable development.

“Looking back at 2022, we are proud of what we have accomplished, and know there is more to be done, to make an impact for our employees and the communities we serve,” said Meaghan Atkinson, Crowley’s vice president of sustainability. “Our path forward will embed sustainability into our day-to-day operations while creating innovative services and solutions to help lead decarbonization in the maritime industry.”
