하수처리장 미세 오염물질·의료 잔여물 제거 위해 드노라의 오존기술 적용

네덜란드의 수처리 회사인 니후이스 사우르 산업(Nijuis Saur Industries)은 네덜란드 하수 처리장에서 미세 오염물질 및 의료 잔여물 제거를 위한 최초의 전면적인 오존 솔루션을 완성했다.

하·폐수 내 의료 잔여물 분야의 모든 처리장을 분석한 결과, 후텐(Houten)에 있는 네덜란드 하수처리장(sewage treatment plant ; STP)이 국가 핫스팟으로 부상했다. 환경으로 유입되는 의료 잔류물의 추가적인 제거 및 감소를 위해 이 하수처리장에서 최첨단 오존시설이 현재 본격적으로 운영되고 있다.

이것은 미세 오염물질 제거의 좋은 예이며, 암스테르담-리진카날(Rijnkanaal)의 수질을 개선하고 ‘샵미션워터(#MissionWater)’라고 불리는 니후이스 사우르 산업의 목적에 완벽하게 부합한다.

설계에서 솔루션까지

니후이스 사우르 산업의 파트너인 판나크 GWW B.V.(Panneek GWW B.V.) 및 위트빈+보스(Witteveen+Bos)와 함께 엔지니어링 단계를 성공적으로 완료한 후, 이 플랜트는후히엠라드샤프 드 스티흐체 리즐란덴(Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijlanden ; HDSR)에 성공적으로 건설, 테스트 및 위탁되었다.

이 새로운 응용 프로그램의 성공적인 시작에 따라, HDSR 수자원 당국과 니후이스 사우르 산업 전문가들로 구성된 팀이 발전소의 성능을 최적화하고 조정하기 위해 결과를 검토하고 있다.

드노라(De Nora)와 오존기술 제휴

HDSR 수도국은 여러 기술을 자세히 비교한 후, 오존기술을 설계의 기초로 선택했다. 이는 내분비 교란 화합물과 항생제와 같은 하·폐수의 유기 미세 오염물질을 분해하는 입증되고 효과적인 공정뿐만 아니라 에너지 소비가 낮고, 부족한 원료 사용이 제한적이며, 수명 주기 비용이 낮기 때문이다.

소형 모듈식 설비는 ‘드노라 캐피탈 컨트롤(De Nora Capital Controls®)’ 오존 발생기를 사용하여 시간당 최대 870㎥의 하·폐수를 처리하도록 설계되었다.

니후이스 사우르 산업(Nijuis Saur Industries)의 프로젝트 및 서비스 책임자인 앙리 베세링크(Henri Besselink)는 “니후이스 사우르 산업에서 우리는 도시 하·폐수에서 의료 잔류물을 제거하기 위한 최상의 솔루션을 설계하고 구축할 수 있는 광범위한 노하우와 경험을 얻었다. 오존 발생기 기술 공급을 위한 드노라와의 파트너십은 까다로운 규제 요구사항을 충족하는 데 매우 중요하다. 특히 휴텐(Houten)의 프로젝트가 4개 프로젝트 중 첫 번째 프로젝트이기 때문에 우리는 다양한 네덜란드 수도 당국에 대해 인식하고 있다”고 말했다.

Nijhuis Saur Industries completes the first full-scale ozone solution at a Dutch sewage treatment plant for micropollutants and medical residue removal

 

After analyzing all treatment plants in the field of medical residues in wastewater, the Dutch sewage treatment plant (STP) in Houten emerged as a national hotspot. The state-of-the-art ozone plant is now in full operation at this STP for the additional removal and reduction of the amount of medical residues entering the environment.

This is a great example of micropollutants removal, improving the water quality in the Amsterdam- Rijnkanaal and seamlessly fitting with Nijhuis Saur Industries’ purpose, called #MissionWater.

From design to solution

After successfully completing the engineering phase with Nijhuis Saur Industries’ partners - Pannekoek GWW B.V. and Witteveen+Bos - the plant was built, tested, and successfully commissioned for Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden (HDSR).

Following the successful start-up of this new application, a combined team of the HDSR Water Authority and Nijhuis Saur Industries experts' are reviewing the results to optimize and adapt the performance of the plant.

Ozone technology partnership with De Nora

After a detailed comparison of different technologies, the HDSR Water Authority selected ozone technology as the basis of design. 

This was not only because of its proven and effective process to break down organic micropollutants in wastewater, such as endocrine-disrupting compounds and antibiotics, but also because of its low energy consumption, limited use of scarce raw materials, and low life-cycle cost. 

The compact and modular installation is designed to treat a maximum of 870 m3 of wastewater per hour using a De Nora Capital Controls® ozone generator.

Henri Besselink, Nijhuis Saur Industries Director Projects, and Services, adds: “At Nijhuis Saur Industries, we gained extensive know-how and experience to design and build the best available solution for the removal of medical residues from municipal wastewater. The partnership with De Nora for the supply of the ozone generator technology is crucial to meet the demanding regulatory requirements, especially as the project in Houten is the first out of four projects, we are realizing for different Dutch water authorities.”
