아랍에미레이트(UAE) 두바이 전기수도청(DEWA ; Dubai Electricity and Water Authority)은 고객들에게 가정 옥내 수도 연결부의 누수 가능성이 있는지 정기적으로 점검할 것을 촉구했다. 이러한 누수로 인해 상당한 낭비와 재산 피해를 초래할 수 있기 때문이다.

이것은 DEWA의 인식 캠페인(awareness campaign)인 ‘똑똑한 여름 선택을 당신의 습관으로 만들기(Make Smart Summer Choices Your Habit)’의 일부이다. 물자원을 보존하기 위해 DEWA는 고객에게 현명한 이니셔티브(smart initiatives)와 서비스를 사용하여 물 소비의 효율성을 높이고 물 낭비를 제한할 것을 거듭 촉구했다.

물탱크, 욕실, 주방, 수영장 등이 누수가 발생할 가능성이 가장 높은 곳이다. 물탱크의 누수는 탱크 본체의 노후화, 연결부 또는 부적절한 위치 지정으로 인해 발생한다.

노후화와 유지관리 부족으로 인해 수도꼭지, 배관, 변기 탱크 및 온수기에서도 발생할 수 있다. 바닥, 벽, 지붕 또는 세탁기 주변의 물 얼룩은 내부 연결부 또는 건물 내 주택 관개 시스템의 누수로 인한 것일 수 있다.

DEWA는 모든 고객이 유능한 기술자의 서비스를 이용하여 정기적인 유지 보수 작업을 수행할 것을 권장하고 있다. 스마트 앱의 DEWA Store를 통해 DEWA는 건물 내부 결함 발생 시 기술 서비스 제공업체 목록을 제공한다. 고객은 DEWA Store의 독점 할인 혜택도 누릴 수 있다.

고객들은 청구서나 스마트 수도계량기를 통해 누수를 감지할 수 있다. DEWA는 계량기 이후 외부 연결의 결함을 감지하는 데 있어 시스템의 효율성을 강조하고, 그 책임이 계량기까지의 연결 및 유지보수에만 국한된다는 점에 주목했다. 수도계량기 이후의 내부 연결은 고객 및 소유자의 책임이다. 이것은 주거, 상업 및 산업 부문에 적용된다.

DEWA urges customers to periodically check internal water connections

 

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has urged customers to periodically check for potential leaks in internal water connections, as such leaks can cause significant wastage and damage to properties. 

This is part of DEWA’s awareness campaign, ‘Make Smart Summer Choices Your Habit’. To preserve resources, DEWA also reiterated its call to customers to use its smart initiatives and services to increase water consumption efficiency and limit waste.

Water tanks, bathrooms, kitchens, and swimming pools are the most likely areas where leakages can occur. Leakages from water tanks are due to deterioration of the tank body, connections, or improper positioning. 

Due to ageing and lack of maintenance, it can also happen in taps, pipes, toilet tanks and water heaters. Water spots on floors, walls and roofs, or around the washing machine are likely due to leaks in internal connections or the house irrigation system within the property. 

DEWA encourages all customers to use the services of a competent technician to carry out regular maintenance work. Through DEWA Store on its smart app, DEWA provides a list of technical service providers in the event of internal faults in the building. Customers can also benefit from the exclusive discounts on DEWA Store.

By using DEWA’s smart app and website, customers can use the dashboard to monitor and manage their electricity and water consumption proactively and online without needing to contact DEWA. 

The dashboard is accessible after logging into the customer’s account. DEWA provides the High-Water Usage Alert service to help customers detect any leakage in water connections after the meter. 

Customers can detect leakages through their bills or smart water meters. DEWA highlighted the efficiency of its systems in detecting any flaws in the external connections after the meter and noted that its responsibility is limited to connections and maintenance until the meter only, while the internal connections after the meters are the customer/owner’s responsibility. This applies to residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

DEWA’s emergency number 991, is also available for urgent technical notifications. Its website and smart app provide valuable tips to manage consumption more efficiently.
