미국 텍사스 댈러스에 있는 국제 물기술 전문 서비스 회사인 제이콥스(Jacobs)는 캘리포니아 샌버너디노 카운티 남서부에 있는 지역 하수시설 및 용수 공급업체인 인란드 엠피르 유틸리티스 에이전시(Inland Empire Utilities Agency, IEUA)로부터 상하수도 프로그램 관리, 엔지니어링 서비스 및 주요 지역 물관리 프로그램에 대한 전략적 자금조달 자문서비스 제공업체로 선정되었다. 

이 프로그램은 남부 캘리포니아에서 가장 큰 지하수 저장 유역 중 하나인 치노 분지(Chino Basin)에 간접적인 식수 재사용을 통합하여 지속가능하고 가뭄에 강한 지역 용수공급을 창출할 수 있도록 하기 위한 것이다.

이 프로그램은 분지 내 재활용 물 운송, 지하수 주입 및 보충, 지하수 증강을 이용한 간접 식수 재사용을 위해 연간 최대 1만5천 에이커-피트(1천800만㎥, 1acre·ft = 1천200㎥)의 정수를 생산할 수 있는 고급정수시설(advanced water purification facility, AWPF)을 비롯해 일련의 새로운 통합 물 인프라 프로젝트를 포함한다.

유역 전체 물관리 프로그램은 IEUA(인란드 엠피르 유틸리티스 에이전시)의 242평방마일 서비스 지역에서 물 재사용을 최적화하고 지역 공급 신뢰도를 높이며 치노 분지(Chino Basin)의 수질을 관리한다.

Jacobs to Manage Inland Empire Utilities Agency Recycled Water Program Expansion

Major program includes advanced water purification facility, strategic funding advisement; Creates drought-resilient local water supply in response to climate change

DALLAS, Aug. 10, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacobs (NYSE:J) was selected by Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) in California to provide program management, owners engineering services, and strategic funding advisory services for a major regional water management program that will incorporate indirect potable reuse to create a more sustainable, drought-resilient local water supply in the Chino Basin one of the largest groundwater storage basins in southern California.

The program encompasses a series of new integrated water infrastructure projects, including intra-basin recycled water conveyance, groundwater injection and replenishment and an advanced water purification facility (AWPF) that will be able to produce up to 15,000 acre-feet per year of purified water for indirect potable reuse using groundwater augmentation, enough water for nearly 100,000 residents. 

The basin-wide water management program will optimize water reuse in IEUA's 242 square-mile service area, further increasing local supply reliability, and managing water quality in the Chino Basin.
