디지털 솔루션 제공업체인 지브라(Zebra Technologies Corporation)은 10월 18일(현지시각) 환경 제어 농업 스타트업인 히포 하베스트(Hippo Harvest)가 자사의 자율 모빌 로봇(AMR)을 성공적으로 통합해 기존 농산물 재배자보다 최대 92%의 물을 절약하고 비료 사용량을 55% 줄일 수 있다고 발표했다.

히포 하베스트는 첨단 식물 과학, 기계 학습 및 로봇 공학을 사용해 지속가능한 온실 환경에서 잎이 무성한 채소 및 기타 농산물을 재배하고 있다.

지구 온난화에 대처하기 위한 새로운 재배 방법을 개척하는 과정에서 히포 하베스트는 농작물을 생산하기 위해 얼마나 많은 물과 비료, 빛이 필요한지를 결정하는 시스템을 구축했다.

히포 하베스트는 온실 내부에서 지브라의 프레이트100(Freight100) AMR을 활용해 식물에 정확한 양의 물과 영양을 전달할 뿐만 아니라 농작물을 더 효율적으로 경작해 수확하고 있다. 지브라의 페치(Fetch) AMR은 온실 시설 주변에서 고르고 움직이는 일을 수행함으로써 작업자가 보다 전략적인 확동에 집중할 수 있도록 돕는다.

AMR은 생산과 온실 처리량을 개선하기 위해 기계가 알고리즘(Algorithms)을 학습하는 데 있어 필요한 데이터 수집을 위한 직접적인 연결고리로서 역할을 수행한다.

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. – Oct. 18, 2023 – Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a leading digital solution provider enabling businesses to intelligently connect data, assets, and people, today announced that Hippo Harvest, a California-based controlled environment agriculture startup, has successfully integrated Zebra’s autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to grow greens, enabling the company to save up to 92% of water and use 55% less fertilizer than conventional produce growers. Hippo Harvest is using advanced plant science, machine learning, and robotics to grow leafy greens and other produce in sustainable greenhouse environments.

Pioneering new growing methods to combat global warming, Hippo Harvest built a system that uses machine learning to determine how much water, fertilizer and light is needed to produce its crops. Inside its greenhouses, Hippo Harvest is leveraging Zebra’s Freight100 AMRs to farm its plants more efficiently, from delivering precise levels of water and nutrition to plants, to delicately harvesting the company’s crops. In addition, Zebra’s Fetch AMRs are assigned picking and moving tasks around its greenhouse facilities so workers can focus on more strategic activities.
