미국 수도협회(American Water Works Association)는 최근 2개 상원 제정법에서 수도 기반시설 재정 및 개혁법(Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act)(WIFIA)을 공개했다. “수도 기반시설 재정 및 개혁법은 미국의 시급한 수도 기반시설 도전을 직시하는 중요한 진척이다.”라고 AWWA 실행이사 데이비드 라프랑스(David LaFrance)는 말한다.
“WIFIA는 장기 연방 적자를 추가하지 않으면서도 매우 중요한 수도 인프라 필요를 처리할 저비용 자본에 대한 접근을 미국 전역의 지역사회들에 제공할 것이다. 그것은 현행 수도 인프라 도구들이 실행할 수 있는 것과 실행될 필요가 있는 것 사이의 심각한 간극을 메워줄 것이다.”

Fighting For Financing: Infrastructure Bill Hits Senate Floor
The American Water Works Association recently celebrated the unveiling of a Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) in two pieces of Senate legislation. “The introduction of the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act marks an important step forward in confronting America’s urgent water infrastructure challenge,” said AWWA Executive Director David LaFrance.
“WIFIA would provide communities across the US with access to low-cost capital to address their most significant water infrastructure needs, without adding to the long-term federal deficit. It would fill a significant gap between what current water infrastructure tools can do and what needs to be done.”
