스웨덴 국영전력기업 Vattenfall은 영국의 동쪽 해안에서 1,200MW급 풍력단지 건설 프로젝트 사업권을 얻었다.
 
이번 East Anglia one 프로젝트는 7,200MW 규모의 전력을 생산하는 풍력단지를 건설의 1단계로 세계적 풍력 운영 업체 Iberdrola SA(IBE)와 함께 하게 되었다.
 
77만 가구에 공급되는 전력량으로 325개의 발전기(터빈)를 건설할 예정이다.
 
영국에서 풍력발전은 발전량이 유럽 절반을 상회하는 수준으로 풍력발전단지는 해안가에 이미 건설되고 있다.

 

영국 전력당국에서는 노후된 기존 화력발전 등을 대체할 청정에너지 설비를 만들 계획으로 풍력발전에 주목하고 있다.
 
2020년까지 현재 설비의 6배인 18,000MW의 발전설비를 갖추려는 계획이다.
 
풍력단지 건설을 통해 2,700개 이상의 일자리를 창출, 2016년 준공, 2018년 발전 시작을 목표로 하고 있다.

berdrola SA (IBE), the world’s largest wind-farm operator, is seeking U.K. permission to build a 1,200- megawatt project off eastern England with Vattenfall AB.

 

The East Anglia One project would be the first phase in a wind complex that could generate as much as 7,200 megawatts, Iberdrola said today in an e-mailed statement. The 325 turbines of the initial wind park would supply power to about 770,000 homes, the company said.

 

The U.K. has installed more offshore wind-power capacity than any other country, and more than half of the European total. The government, seeking to boost clean-energy output as aging power plants are retired, pays subsidies for wind energy at sea as it targets a sixfold increase in capacity to 18,000 megawatts of turbines by 2020.

 

The East Anglia One farm would create 2,700 jobs during construction, according to Bilbao, Spain-based Iberdrola. If approved, the project will be the company’s “most ambitious” venture, with building work starting in 2016 and first power generation due in 2018.
