쿠웨이트 Az-Zour 지역에 첫 번째 민영화 추진 프로젝트가 거의 완료됨에 따라 쿠웨이트에서는 향후 2개의 IWWP 프로그램 추진에 대한 advisory group을 결성해 추진할 계획이다. 첫 번째 Az-Zour 지역 North 1 IWWP는 46만4천톤/일 및 1천500MW 생산 규모로 1월에 Suez 콘소시엄에 공식 계약되어 올해 2Q에 관련투자금의 펀딩이 완료될 예정이다.
이에 따라 향후 2개소의 전력 및 담수화 생산 설비 구축에 대한 프로젝트 진행에 North 1 의 IWWP 프로젝트에 관여한 동일한 advisory group을 재선정하여 추진할 예정이다. BNP Paribas 금융회사 등이 포함된 PTB(Partnerships Technical Bureau) 그룹은 Khirran 지역 (56만8천250톤/일 및 2천500MW)외에 North 2 지역(45만4천600톤/일 및 1천500MW) 플랜트 건설의 design, procurement 추진에 관여할 것이다.

Kuwait lines up advisory team for future IWPPs
The body behind Kuwait’s privatisation programme is set to name advisors soon for its next two IWPPs, as developers near the finishing line on the first project at Az-Zour North.
The 464,000m³/d & 1,500MW Az-Zour North 1 IWPP was formally awarded by the Partnerships Technical Bureau (PTB) to a GdF Suez-led consortium in January. The developer told GWI it was aiming to achieve financial close on the project in the second quarter of 2013.
Sources have claimed that PTB is close to approving the same team of advisors that worked with it on Az-Zour North 1 to advise on the procurement of the next two power and desalination schemes.
The team of BNP Paribas (financial), Chadbourne & Parke (legal) and Lahmeyer International (technical) is expected to be confirmed soon to work on design and procurement for the Khirran (568,250m³/d & 2,500MW) and Az-Zour North 2 (454,600m³/d & 1,500MW) plants.
