Kahramaa로 알려진 카타르 공공 수도 전기 시설 업체는 현재 중동 부호들의 인프라 구축을 위한 투자에 발맞춰 두개의 큰 담수 시설 건설 프로젝트를 시작하였다.

Kahramaa는 최종적으로 10만㎥/d에 이르는 혼합수 수용량 달성을 위해 두 개의 시설을 건설하는 것을 계획하고 있다. 하나는 카타르 수도인 도하(Doha)에서 남쪽으로 15km 떨어진 곳에 위치한 2,000MW 발전소와 같이 세워질 예정이고 또 다른 하나는 수도 북쪽에 위치한 라스 라판(Ras Laffan) 산업 부지에 건설될 예정이다.

The Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation, known as Kahramaa, has started the process of procuring two massive desalination plants to support the infrastructure boom currently under way in the wealthy emirate.

Kahramaa is planning to build two plants with an eventual combined water capacity of nearly 1 million m³/d. One will be located 15km south of Doha and combined with a 2,000MW co-located power plant, while the other will be built at the Ras Laffan industrial site, north of the capital. Both plants will be developed using private finance under the IWP/IWPP model.

Qatar is currently in the middle of an unprecedented infrastructure boom, as the country’s leaders look to invest income from its natural gas reserves.
