수처리 시스템에서 색도를 제거하는 패키지가 Pentair X-Flow사에 의해 개발됐다. 중공사 형태의 나노여과 기술은 일반 수처리 공정 및 음용수에서 색도, 맛, 냄새를 제거하는데 부정적인 영향을 미치는 자연유기성물질(natural organic matter, NOM) 제거에 매우 효과적인 기술이다.
이 기술은 여과공정을 단지 3개 공정으로 줄임으로서 운전을 단순화한 것이 특징이다. Pentair X-Flow사의 색도제거 패키지(color removal package, CRP)의 핵심은 HFW 1000 모델의 멤브레인으로 X-Flow의 나노여과 구조를 기본으로 하여 멤브레인의 파이버는 케미칼에 내성이 강한 X-Flow 멤브레인과 유기물 보존특성을 가진 나권형 나노여과막을 결합한 형태로 구성된다.
이 기술의 특성은 기존기술 비교하여 다음과 같은 특징과 장점을 가지고 있다.
- 원수가 직접 멤브레인에 유입되기 전 300µ의 safety screen을 설치
- 클로린에 대한 내성을 갖고 있어 안정된 운전 목적의 크리닝 공정이 단순화
- 박테리아및 바이러스 제거율이 6log 이상 (즉 >99.9999%)
- 3개 공정으로 축소
- integrity test를 통하여 멤브레인의 특성을 확인 가능
위와 같은 CRP 기술은 물속에 존재하는 유기물질이 혼합되어 있는 물처리에 효과적으로 색도, 휴믹산, TOC 및 UV 254 등의 NOM 물질에 대하여 높은 보존력을 가지며 경도물질, 칼슘이나 마그네슘 등 2가 이온 등에 대하여 낮은 보존력을 갖는다.

Color-removal nanofiltration introduced by Pentair
A Color Removal Package (CRP) for water treatment was introduced on 28 June 2013 by membrane filtration specialists Pentair X-Flow.
The hollow-fibre nanofiltration technology is highly effective in the removal of natural organic matter (NOM) in fresh water, which adversely affects the water treatment process as well as the color, taste and odor of drinking water. The technology also significantly simplifies the treatment operation system by eliminating three process steps.
The core component of the Pentair X-Flow CRP is the HFW 1000 membrane. Based on the highly flexible X-Flow nanofiltration platform, the membrane fiber combines the chemical resistance of X-Flow's membranes with the organic retention of spiral-wound nanofiltration. The end result provides many advantages compared with conventional technologies, including:
· Pretreatment requires only a 300 micron safety screen before the raw surface water is directly fed to the membranes
· Chlorine resistance assists easy cleaning to help ensure stable operation
· Reduction of bacteria and viruses to >6-log (99.9999%)
· Elimination of three process steps
· A verifiable barrier that can be proven with integrity testing.
The CRP is effective in treating the complex mixture of organic compounds in all fresh water. The technology has achieved a high retention of NOM, expressed as color, humic acids, TOC and UV254, and shows low retention of hardness, including multivalent ions such as Calcium (Ca2+) and Magnesium (Mg2+).
