Mott MacDonald사가 뉴질랜드와 호주 기반의 물 전문 기술과 자문 회사인 Australasian water specialis (AWT)사와 합병했다. 

합병은 회사가 제공하는 서비스를 호주 지역에 확산 시키기 위한 Mott MacDonald의 사업 전략의 한 부분으로 보인다.

Mott는 개념 설계와 설계 명세서를 제공하고, 300,000 m³/d 바닷물의 역삼투화 공장을 포함한 애들레이드 담수화 계획을 위한 도급 경영을 제공한다.

AWT는 20년 동안 물 관련 분야의 전반적인 과학 공학 서비스를 제공했다. 

애들레이와 맬버른 사옥에 약 50명의 기술자와 과학자를 고용하고 프로젝트에 기술적 해법을 제공한다.

AWT는 뉴질랜드의 엄격한 폐수 배출 제한을 만족 시키기 위해 생물 반응 장치 기술의 막을 적용하고 Rotorua의 처리 공장 확장을 지원했다. 또한 Taupo의 원수에서 비소를 제거하기 위한 1천700만 달러의 수 처리 공장을 시행해 왔다.

Mott MacDonald 회장은 "AWT는 호주와 전체 지역에 대한 물 전문 지식을 강화하고 AWT의 물 과학 기술의 전문가들은 Mott MacDonald의 전세계 프로젝트 이익을 위한 기술을 강화한다"고 밝혔다.

The Mott MacDonald consultancy group has taken in AWT, a specialist water technology and consulting company based in New Zealand and Australia. 

The move is part of Mott MacDonald's business strategy to broaden the services the company offers in the Australasia region. Mott provided concept design, specifications and contract management for the Adelaide desalination project for SA Water, including a 300,000 m³/d seawater reverse-osmosis plant. 

AWT has provided science and engineering services across the water sector for over 20 years. Employing around 50 engineers and scientists in its offices in Auckland and Melbourne, the company provides technical solutions spanning the entire project cycle. 

The company recently supported the expansion of the Rotorua treatment plant and applied membrane bioreactor technology to meet New Zealand's tightest nutrient limits from a wastewater discharge. The company has also implemented a new NZ$ 20 million (US$ 17 million) membrane water treatment plant for Taupo to remove arsenic from the source water. 

In addition, AWT has developed the H2Knowhow middleware data management platform, which is now being used by several water utilities across the region. In Christchurch City it has been adopted to provide network monitoring data and analysis to assist with the rebuild of underground water assets. 

Mott MacDonald's chairman, Keith Howells commented: "AWT strengthens our water expertise in Australia and throughout the region. AWT's specialist focus on the science and technology of water also enhances Mott MacDonald's technical edge for the benefit of projects worldwide."
