[BCC Research] 세계 나노여과 멤브레인 시장 4억4천510만 달러 전망

BCC Research의 새로운 보고서에 따르면 세계 나노 멤브레인 시장이 2019년 4억4천510만 달러 규모로 성장하고 5년 동안 연 평균 성장률은 15.6%가 될 것이라고 전망하고 있다.

나노여과는 압력으로 구동되며 멤브레인 기반의 분리 기술로 나노크기의 미립자와 분자를 제거하기 위해 멤브레인에 이용되고 있다. 나노 멤브레인은 폴리머, 무기, 혼합체의 3가지 유형이 주를 차지하며 물 및 폐수처리, 식음료, 화학 및 석유화학, 제약 및 생물의학, 농업 산업에서 많이 적용되고 있다.
또한, 나노멤브레인은 혈장정제, 단백질 분류, 혈장제품의 바이러스 제거, 농축된 항생제 제거, 생합성 효소와 세포의 부동화, DNA, RNA, 내독소 여과에 사용된다.

BBC Research의 나노기술 분석가 Margareth Gagliardi는 " 나노여과기술은 다른기술과 비교했을때 보다 비용 효율적이고 운영이 쉬우며 에너지를 절감할 수 있는 공정이다. 또한, 화학 합성물 재활용과 분리에서 새로운 기회를 제공한다"고 설명했다.

나노 여과기술 시장의 성장 요인은 식수의 수요 증가, 담수 자원의 고갈, 환경규제 강화, RO 공정과 비교했을 때 낮은 운영비용을 꼽을 수 있다.

According to a new report, GLOBAL MARKETS AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR NANOFILTRATION, published by BCC Research, the global market for nanofiltration membranes is expected to grow to $445.1 million by 2019, with a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.6 percent. Further, the water and wastewater treatment segment dominates the overall market with a 74.6-percent market share.

Nanofiltration is a pressure-driven, membrane-based separation technology utilizing membranes that are capable of retaining nanoscale particles and molecules. With three main types of nanofiltration membranes -- polymeric, inorganic (e.g., ceramic and carbon) and hybrid (or organic/inorganic) -- this technology is finding increasing application across a broad range of industries, including water and wastewater treatment, food and beverage, chemical and petrochemical, pharmaceutical and biomedical, agriculture, and solid waste management.

Membranes for water and wastewater treatment represent by far the largest share of the market. This segment alone is expected to reach $338 million by 2019 and register a healthy CAGR of 16.1 percent. Revenues within this category are primarily driven by sales of nanofiltration membranes for water softening, desalination and wastewater treatment.

Although generating lower revenues, the pharmaceutical and biomedical category is the fastest-moving segment in the overall market and is expected to grow to $22.7 million by 2019, moving at a significant 19.5-percent CAGR. In this sector, nanofiltration is used mainly for plasma purification; fractionation of proteins, virus removal from plasma products, preparation of desalted and concentrated antibiotics, immobilization of cells and enzymes in biosynthesis, and filtration of DNA, RNA and endotoxins.

"Membrane-based separation technologies have been receiving increasing interest in recent years," said BCC Research nanotechnology analyst Margareth Gagliardi. "Not only do they represent more cost-effective, low-maintenance, easy-to-operate and energy-saving processes compared to other popular separation methods, they're also creating new opportunities in the separation and recycling of chemical compounds that could not be previously processed by other means."

The increased market penetration of these products is attributed to a number of factors, including a rising demand for potable water and reduced freshwater sources, environmental restrictions on industrial and municipal wastewater discharges, and lower operating costs compared to, for example, reverse osmosis (RO).
