SUEZ사의 자회사인 데그레몽(Degremont)사가 아부다비의 파일럿 담수화 프로젝트에 정밀여과와 역삼투 멤브레인을 제공하는 업체로 DOW사를 선정했다.

이 18개월짜리 프로젝트는 에너지 효율 해수 담수화 기술을 테스트하고 개발하는 목적으로 Masdar사에 의해 런칭됐으며, 이 기술은 재생가능한 에너지 자원에 의해 공급받는다. 이 플랜트는 전적으로 재생가능 에너지로부터 전력을 보충한다.

 

 

 

Suez Envionnement water treatment subsidiary, Degremont Technologies, has selected Dow Water and Process Solutions to supply ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis membranes for a pilot desalination project in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with renewable energy company Masdar.

 

 The 18-month project was launched by Masdar to test and develop energy-efficient seawater desalination technologies that can be supplied by renewable energy sources. The plant could be powered entirely by renewable energy.

 

Dow technologies included in the deal will be Filmtech Seamaxx, which the manufacturer claimed can reduce energy consumption in desalination by up to 10%, compared to rivals' elements, and Filmtec Eco elements, which can use up to 30% less ienergy than competitors' products Dow said.
 
Degremont chief executive officer, Remi Lantier, said,: "We are excited to partner with Dow on the Renewable Energy Seawater Desalination Programme. As a world leader in water treatment we take innovation to heart and Dow Water and Process Solutions consistently brings to market innovative reverse osmosis technologies."

 

The programme will include a full-scale facility to be operational by 2020. It's long- term objective is to implement the best performing technologies in desalination plants across the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

 

The plant's systems will be more energy efficient than those in current desalination facilities and will be suitable for the seawater and environmental conditions found throughout the UAE according to Dow.
