[남아프리카] 콰줄루나탈주, 해수담수화 자문

남아프리카의 콰줄루나탈(KwaZulu-Natal)주 남부해안에 위치한 Ugu 지방자치단체는 심각한 물부족을 겪는 가운데 담수화 가능성을 모색하고 있다. 지자체장 France Zama는 “우리는 담수화라는 장기간의 옵션을 탐색할 필요가 있다”고 말했다.

지역사회와의 자문에 앞서 그는 “우리 주가 현재 가지고 있는 문제를 완화하기 위한 가능한 선택사항으로서 어떻게 해수를 검토할 수 있을지의 측면에서 전문가가 제안하는 아이디어를 모색할 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

The Ugu district municipality on South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal south coast is exploring the possibility of desalination amid a "dire" water shortage. 

"We need to explore a long-term option - that is desalination said municipality leader, France Zama. He we went on to describe the drought situation as "dire". 

Ahead of consultation with the district community he said: "We're going to explore ideas from experts in terms of how we can go about looking at seawater as a possible option to alleviate the problem that we currently have," he said.
