미국 전력연구소(EPRI, Electric Power Research Institute)는 Sylvan Source(SSI)와 협력해 SSI의 첨단 수처리시스템인 SSI Core의 소규모 시범사업을 실시한다. 해당되는 시범플랜트는 2016년 상반기에 미국 전기공급사업의 주최로 배치될 예정이다. 몇 가지로 냉각탑의 갑작스러운 파열에 의한 폐기물선 처리 등의 전압시험을 실시하며, 시험 결과는 EPRI에 의해 게시된다.

 

 

 

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is collaborating with Sylvan Source (SSI) to conduct a small pilot test of SSI’s advanced water treatment system, the SSI Core.

 

It is anticipated that the pilot plant will be deployed at a host US electric utility in the first half of 2016. First among several potential tests will be the treatment of cooling tower blowdown waste streams. The results from the pilot plant testing will be published by EPRI.

 

Recent research has revealed that the global cooling tower market is predicted to reach $3.25 billion by 2020.

 

SSI claimed the system can deliver “50% or less of the capital costs” and “50% of the operating expenses” of “comparable conventional technologies”.

 

Richard Breckenridge, project manager at EPRI, said: “Water management issues in our communities are of vital importance and are receiving more attention worldwide as drought conditions and water supplies limitations arise. Looking at ways to reclaim and reuse water through innovative treatment technologies minimises overall water use and benefits the public in many ways.”
