NSF¡¯s Expertise in Water Meter Evaluation
 
NSF-WRc is UKAS accredited to ISO 17025 to test water fittings and materials to many national and international standards. The lab has over 25 years¡¯ experience testing and calibrating water meters in domestic sizes to recognized international standards such as ISO 4064, EN 14154 and OIML R49. Part of NSF International¡¯s global network of labs, NSF-WRc¡¯s facilities include flow test rigs that utilize a gravimetric system to accurately weigh water as well as endurance testing equipment that simulates long-term service conditions to predict the life of new water meter designs.
 
The error determination tests can accommodate flow rates up to 120 liters/min (7 m3/hr) for water meters from 15 mm to 30 mm in diameter. Accurate water density measurement enables the precise calculation of the volume of water passed through the meter. NSF-WRc works with meter manufacturers, the water supply industry, government bodies such as OFWAT in the UK, private companies and individuals for meter trials, research and development work and failure investigations. The facility tests flow equipment in a range of operating conditions that affect water meter performance such as flow disturbance, magnetic field influence and temperature and pressure fluctuations. NSF-WRc conducts investigations of meters in dispute for water companies and their customers, as well as independent third-party failure analysis of water meters that have failed in service. NSF also has an office based in Abu Dhabi providing testing, certification, auditing and consulting for the water sector.
