Veolia to supply drinking water and boost network yield in Armenia
Veolia's Armenia subsidiary, Veolia Djur, has won an affermage contract to deliver drinking and wastewater services to Armenia's population of three million.
The 15-year contract provides for managing drinking water production and distribution, and wastewater treatment, including improving the yield of the country's drinking water network.
It is worth ¢æ800 million ($850 million) overall, including invoicing for 174 million m3/y of water by the end of the contract in 2030.
Project financing of $200 million will be provided by financial institutions including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, KFW Development Bank, and the European Investment Bank.
"This success reflects a joint effort by Veolia's teams, capitalising on the experience and professionalism of employees in Erevan, and applying best practice developed by experts in more than 40 countries. It confirms Veolia's international expertise in managing and optimising large public networks on behalf of local authorities, and it affirms our development strategy in Central and Eastern Europe," said Malika Ghendouri, vice president of Central and Eastern Europe, Veolia.
Veolia already provides drinking water to a million people in the country's capital Erevan.
